Sit on the large covered back porch and enjoy watching the geese and ducks while grilling and chilling. Large flat yard to park boats and cars. Easy access to 2 free boat ramps within a few miles of the house (Buddle Creek off Holloway Church Road and Wildlife Recreation Area Access for the big lake); High Rock Lake Marina close by for gas and supplies is open year round. Pontoon boat rentals available at the Marina May-Sept. (mol). Bring your toys and enjoy abundant lake fun; fish, paddle board, ski, jet ski, pontoon and just enjoy the lake. Tour area vineyards and breweries. Located close to Lexington is known for it's BBQ and locally made candy. Swim ladder available May-September (MOL); weather dependent.

This was the BEST place that we have rented in North Carolina. The main reason for our trip was to hopefully find a new home in the surrounding areas. From the moment we arrived and went inside we knew this was truly going to be the perfect place to come home to each day. First let me say that the house is not lacking in any area. From having a great selection of dinnerware, cooking items such as pots and pans and frying pans and baking dishes, serving platters and bowls, dishware ,I can go on and on. Plenty of towels and bath items. The view from the expansive back deck is literally mind blowing whether you are sitting out there in the morning with your first cup of coffee and all of a sudden the sky starts dancing with magnificent colors from the sunrise or in the evening when the sun starts setting. The location of the house is only a few minutes away from the local food markets and stores and it’s only a short drive to downtown. This was the most enjoyable yet relaxed vacation we have had in a while. I have to say that we did accomplish our goal of finding a new home while we were there, and even though Castway Cottage isn’t that far away from our future home we plan on going back for a recharge kind of vacation when we need it. We enjoyed this house very much. I grew up in Lexington and this place was 5 miles from my dad/mother. Very convenient to thier place and shopping. We had two very nice meals…steak k e night and then we fried a turkey. Went fishing and caught fish as well. We Will definitely be visiting again.

That back porch!

Enjoyed our stay at Castaway Cottage. The back deck was our favorite and we stayed out there alot with all the rain we had. Inside is as described. Stairs to water and dock as described. We had about 9 feet of water off the front of the dock. Water silty and some log debris but we were able to do our water-sports right in front of the house. Only issue was listing states sleeps 8, 7 comfortably but owner contacted us when we had 5 cars in driveway questioning if we had more than 6 guests (we worked this out but if you intend to take more than 6 guests make sure to confirm it with owner first)

Vacation

We have never been to High Rock Lake prior to this stay. We were looking for pet friendly and a place to bring our boat. We had no way to know the weather would be off the week after Memorial Day. The house and location were great. Plan on cooking and eating in unless you want to travel 20 minutes or more for anything other than diner food. It was fine for us since we couldn’t leave our dog alone. We hope to visit again and hope for better weather. The house has the amenities we needed. The host was quick to respond with any questions. The house does have lots of steps to the lake (47); however we navigated with no problems.
