Entire place was clean, and the sheets/bedding didn’t smell weird as you might expect from a woodsy place. I picked this place because I’m not much of a tent or non-electric/bug-filled cabin type, and this was the perfect amount of rustic for us. The shower water pressure was good too!The owners were helpful and friendly when needed. They live next door. In the welcome book, they included directions to a secluded beach nearby that wasn’t on any GPS map I could find. It was a lovely small beach with a new playground and public beach toys. We only stopped by, though, since the beach didn’t allow dogs; instead, we ended up going to South Higgins State Park, which was nice too.In the backyard, there was plenty of firewood for memorable bonfires. Bring some cash for the firewood jar if you want. :) One night, we walked down the road to see lots of stars in the clear sky—which we don’t get to see in the suburbs.Although they had their own cornhole for guests to use, we hadn’t known and brought ours to play. We set it up, but that didn’t leave much room for other nets and games.Check out Hartwick Pines Park if you get a chance!Bring as much food from home as you can. For needed items, shop at Family Fare (though prices may be higher than at home). We also brought bottled water for drinking.
