I the continental breakfast was just distasteful, lacking pretty much everything. The room we stayed was so stinky. The bathroom was the worse part of all. Didn’t have toilet paper, and the water in the shower and sink smelled like excrement and rust, we felt dirtier after showering! Like how? The pool was so dirty on the bottom, the water in the pool old, and so stinky as well. I think the only good thing my husband and I really liked and enjoyed was the hot tub. Nothing else. Food was crazy overpriced as well. Overall the experience was jus bad, not just bad, like really, really bad, bad.

The lobby is very welcoming and the options for the bar/restaurant were wonderful to have onsite. The walkway on the 2nd floor to our room had a rotted board and the door plus patio door was unlocked when we arrived. The pool, gym and locker room building was convenient. At night, the room stayed cold and when the heater kicked on, it blasted cold air before turning warm. We loved the location and this would be a great spot in the summer since you’re not indoors as much.

The fire place in our room did not work. It was freezing. Like my face was cold to the touch while sleeping. The heat kept turning on and off on the heater/AC unit. It would blow consistently but sometimes cold air. If you turned it above 7 it went cold. Our toilet would not flush you had to remove the back of it. The bed was nothing but springs. I called the desk and they said they knew the fire place in my room was complaint worthy and I could move rooms....I was confused then why I was put in that one in the first place. We had our dog and a portable kennel so we did not want to move and risk something else being broken (that's the vibe of the place) great views but I'd recommend a hotel for these prices and then go to the state park vs this lodge.

Every floor board squeaked when you walked on it. Lots of things did not work in the cabin. No outside lights on the deck, toilets were marginal. We were never told what was included in the stay. Like bring your own dish soap, towels, paper towel etc. The free breakfast was nothing. Make your own waffles, hard to peel hard boiled eggs. We had to ask for butter and syrup.

We don’t mind an “old lodge” fell, but the room was quite outdated, shower was rusty and carpet was stained. Balcony wood was in poor shape, didn’t go out there. Breakfast was minimal, hard boiled eggs were old and yolks turning blackish green. Lobby was great, bar was good. Views were beautiful. Lodge dog was a bonus for the kids.

We ended up in a cabin, possibly by mistake that was really not up to par. When we went to the front desk they were very helpful and put us in a room that was very nice and comfortable. We would be happy to come back sometime!

We rented a cabin for the weekend, and it wasn’t very clean, and could use some updating. Location right on the lake was nice, delivery of firewood and linens was great.

My kids and I came for a quick stay during MEA weekend and loved the picturesque location. The room was perfect for us and clean. The view out the balcony was gorgeous. The staff was super helpful and lovely. We will think about our stay at Ruttger's for a long time.

This is an old resort. The beds were comfortable and the water is always beautiful especially on Lake Bemidji. It is an older property and it shows. The old carpet, musty smell, iron stained tub.
