A great resort located on a wonderful site together with other Hilton properties forming an excellent vacation complex. However, Ocean Tower itself is a bit old and outdated. An update on the building and the rooms are needed.

Experience at Waikoloa Ocean Tower

Stayed at Hilton Ocean Tower for a work-related conference. Our experience was overall good. The property has beautiful views and outdoor spaces. I found the service to be rather lackluster given the cost of food and drinks. Our room was clean and spacious, but definitely had some maintenance issues that we made note of so they could be addressed after check out. Great ocean view, nonetheless. We spent most of our free time enjoying the pools and outdoors, so was not a very big deal. Wish there was a hot tub nearer to here as it is a lengthy walk to the main pool.

Beautiful setting with a private cove and sandy beach. Can watch tropical fish and sea turtles as you walk the paths! Beautiful landscaping and fun pools. Some portions of the ocean tower were getting a needed refresh. Some shops, bars and restaurants closed, the canal boats weren't running and the whole place had a hint of a past it's prime vibe. Still a good value in comparison with other Kona resorts.

Came for a conference and extended my stay. The grounds are beautiful, right on the ocean. Stayed in a room not updated yet but comfortable and very clean. Two main shopping areas that are walkable but there is also a shuttle for a fee. In my opinion the shuttle should be free.

The good: The property is beautiful all around. Exploring is fun, and there are tons of good things to see. It is breathtaking. The bad: The room itself was not nice. It felt more like a $50 bottom tier hotel instead of the $400 hotel room it was. Fridge was unplugged and stinky (but worked after I plugged it in). The pull out mattress in the sofa was one of the most uncomfortable I've ever felt, my son did not enjoy that at all. I think they expect the outside (which is awesome) to overcompensate. I've paid for parking at hotels before. This is a thing in cities where they have very limited space, and so the parking lot is valuable, I expect to pay $10, perhaps even $20 for a night. At this location, they have hundreds/thousands of acres of open space available, and the car charge is $48? Seriously? We will never be back at this hotel again, period. Besides the outside of the hotel (which is great), the best part is we only paid for one night here. We spent the rest of our time at the Hilton Naniloa, and that was an awesome hotel.

A beautiful facility, limited food options, horribly expensive. No mucrowave, a coffee maker that had to be moved to use due to no place to plug in and then it made terrible, weak coffee. Our "resort view" was a wall.

This is a beautiful resort in a beautiful location about 20 miles North of Kona. The views are beautiful, the pools are nice, there is a nice salt lake lagoon that is connected to the ocean. The biggest downside is the need to walk. The resort is designed to be unnecessarily large and you need to walk quite a bit to get from some place to another, to the extent that walking can take away from the fun. There are not enough food options and it is difficult to discover some of the relatively convenient food locations because the resort is too large and you may find yourself hungry and have to walk for 30 minutes so that you can get to the restaurants/groceries in the nearby shopping centers. We were handed bottled waters upon check-in and were told that there are refill stations throughout, but there was only one refill station that was quite far from our room.

Looks like they are doing some remodeling so unfortunately I stayed in there older rooms in the corner unit which was oddly set up and poor waist of space. The grounds are beautiful the staff is amazing. They need more dinning options which are affordable for families that stay longer. The monorail system is a big waist of energy and takes up space and noisy at night if you have a room next to the rail. They could definitely create a better system then the monorail which could be more efficient and convenient for guest. Other than that great place to spend your vacation. Maybe add night club for younger adults to let loose on the weekends.

Service level could be improved

The over stay was nice but information of events, times, where to go, places to eat, was pretty difficult to come by. Overall when I go to a report I would like to be able to by a drink and sit by the pool and this resort made that experience timeconsuming and difficult. I would have easily spent more on property had buying drinks been more enjoyable.
