Pet friendly accommodation in Newham

Arriving at the Westbridge we were pleasantly surprised when reception advised us that we’d been upgraded free of charge from a Standard Double room to a Double Suite. However, what a major disappointment this was. After climbing 3 flights of stairs with cases (as there was no lift) into the older part of the building we arrived at what can only be described as an attic area. On entering our room we found it to be absolutely tiny with a low ceiling, a slightly sloping floor and the smallest toilet/shower room we’ve ever seen - to be honest the only space to move about was around the bed itself giving it an extremely cramped feeling. Now I’m all into quirky, olde-worlde charm but this is far from it. My first thought was if this was an upgrade then what was the actual standard room like? The room was also really hot so when we went to bed we put the room’s air conditioning on but this made a loud whirring noise - on turning it off and opening the only tiny window (which could only be opened about 6 inches, unless you signed a disclaimer) we then noticed a din coming from the 3 huge air conditioning units directly across the way on the building opposite….the constant noise from which went on all night. Put that together with a lumpy, squeaky double bed (that we noticed had a wedge in one corner due to the uneven floor) and bed sheets that were as noisy and rough as newspaper, it didn’t result in a good nights sleep. Furthermore under the bed there was a constant flashing light,

The concept and design of the boat were great. However the elevator service was highly problematic. During our 3 night stay one of the two elevators was out of order the entire time. On one day, for several hours, the other elevator was out of order. During that several hour period guests had to walk up or down 3 or 4 flights of stairs. Surprisingly at reception, as people were checking out with suitcases, no offer was made to carry down luggage for guests. The food at breakfast was not warm enough. The lids to pots were heavy and there was no place to rest the lids while scooping out food. Food quality was fair.

I didn't have breakfast during my stay. The room was clean bud the bathroom looked clean but there was a damp smell like the cloths used to wipe were dirt. It didn't smell freshly cleaned evan after the cleaner cleaned the bathroom. The food served at the restaurant was fairly good and price was reasonable. very friendly bar staff and front desk staff were just ok nothing wow about the service provided in that area. There is no gym, no laundry, no room service. The rooms were sparsely furnished. No chest of drawers, the bedside tables were tiny and had no shelves or drawers, the closet was virtually non-existent. I basically used one side of my bed to lay out my clothes for the week. No enclosed closet to store clothes and shoes. No small fridge nor safe to lock up valuables. I have stayed at this brand of hotels in Canada and the US and this is not what I am used to.

This was our second stay. It’s a lovely hotel, clean, well maintained, rooms are spacious enough. Staff are wonderful, helpful and polite. Love the location, very close to Stratford underground, and the mall is amazing. Will def stay again next time we’re in London.

There was some not really nice smell in the room passages. The liquid shower gel on the shower wall had very little left in the show. The air conditioning is not the quietest and is understandably dated.
