The Dog Wood Glamping Tent is one of two accommodations at our boutique mountain camp, Wheat Creek Outpost, in the North Carolina mountains. It combines the serenity of nature with the comforts of a boutique hotel. Inside, you’ll find a full bathroom, heating and air, and kitchenette—everything you need for a relaxing and convenient stay. Whether your sipping morning coffee on the deck or unwinding under the stars, The Dog Wood offers a perfect blend of adventure and comfort.

Located near Tryon, Saluda, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, and just a short drive from Asheville and Hendersonville, The Dogwood is your ideal base for exploring scenic hiking trails, waterfalls, and charming mountain towns.

This spacious glamping tent features a covered porch and a private fire pit, ideal for unwinding after a day of mountain adventures. On sunny days, roll up the tent windows to enjoy fresh mountain air. Guests have full access to 30 acres of scenic property, including two ponds, a creek, and a walnut grove, all with thoughtfully placed seating areas to relax and take in the natural beauty.

The Dog Wood glamping tent is a walk up tent, just a short walk—less than 100 yards—from the parking area. Your arrival is simple with a clearly marked trail and a cart provided to help transport your luggage to your tent. Please note, there are six steps leading up to the tent’s private porch.

Guests are also welcome to enjoy Wheat Creek Lodge, a shared space featuring games, a cozy lounge area, and a camp store stocked with snacks and everyday essentials. You'll also find our make-your-own specialty coffee station, where you can whip up a latte, cappuccino, or espresso just the way you like it. Though a coffee maker as well as a drip coffee option is provided in your tent as well.

Were perfectly located just 45 minutes from Asheville, NC, and Greenville, SC; 30 minutes from Hendersonville and Spartanburg; and less than 15 minutes from the charming mountain towns of Tryon, Landrum, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock and Saluda. The Tryon International Equestrian Center is under 10 minutes away and offers nightlife, dining, and a variety of events throughout the year.

Youll also be just a stones throw from three fantastic local wineries. Parker-Binns, Mountain Brook, and Overmountain, as well as a great selection of local restaurants and breweries. Outdoor adventures like tubing, ziplining, and scenic hiking trails are just a short drive away.

Wheat Creek Outpost welcomes all well-behaved pups and we never charge a cleaning fee and offer free Wi-Fi, available all over the property.

Please note, this property is located in a wooded, natural setting, and you may encounter wildlife or insects during your stay. This could include deer, raccoons, skunks, coyotes, bears, ducks, mosquitos, mice, spiders, bees, wasps, black flies, crickets, or ants. These creatures are part of the natural environment, and while we do our best to maintain the area, we cannot control Mother Nature and refunds are not issued for encounters with wildlife.

As a pet-friendly property, we do not permit the use of poisons, toxins, or glue traps. Thank you for helping us keep Wheat Creek safe for all our guests furry or otherwise.

The owners, live on-site to ensure the property is well-maintained and secure. They're always happy to assist if you need anything but will fully respect your space and privacy. You may spot them around the grounds with their friendly dog, Dudley, but rest assured they wont interrupt your stay unless invited. That's a promise.
