Cons: The occupants around us were very noisy. The had a hairdryer going after midnight and were loudly talking in their bathroom. The mattress in our room had a dip, making it uncomfortable to sleep. Pros: The check in/check out process was easy and the buffet breakfast was nice. Location was fantastic.

Yes the room was spotless however difference between weekly rate and weekend rate was quite significant. And very busy on weekend. In very good end of town maybe another hotel near hear which of similar value in China town?

When Air NZ canceled our flight to Melbourne three hours before flight time and two hours later rebooked us three days later so that we couldn’t travel to Melbourne at all, I immediately contacted the hotel and Expedia to cancel our reservation. The late cancellation was acknowledged by both the hotel and Expedia at that time. After three weeks of back and forth with the hotel and Expedia, we were denied ANY refund for our prepaid four night stay contrary to the stated cancellation policy of both the hotel and Expedia, which was to forfeit the first night’s fee for late cancellation or no-show. Neither the hotel nor Expedia would be clear on who kept the balance of our payment. I would be wary of booking with either EVT Hotels or Expedia.

The room was very clean - basic room with no bells or whistles but tidy. However, the lighting was very poor. We had a tiny window that did not allow natural light to come in and the actual light in the room was not very bright - not great if you are getting ready to go out. Also, there must have been pigeons outside our window that we could hear at all times of the day and night.
