Large room; spacious; friendly and attentive staff. Aircon was tricky and unusable (the room was very hot overnight) Carparking was a little tricky, however could navigate. The location of this hotel was great, being close to Flinders Lane dining and bars, walking distance to galleries, shopping and the beautiful laneways of Melbourne. The staff were excellent. The place was clean. The pool looked nice. The decor was a little dated but still nice. I didn't like the closed in feeling in the room without a proper view out of the window. I was disappointed with the gluten free options at breakfast and actually the whole breakfast was disappointing and it would have been better to go to one of the many cafes close by. The location and price made it a good option for us to stay but next time I'd forego paying for breakfast.

It felt elegant from the start; the porter took our luggage to our room which was great. The staff helped us with a slightly early check in as we had meetings to attend. All staff everywhere were very accommodating and helpful. Great Buffet Breakfast. Harry's bar - delicious food. We had the Seafood Chowder and Wonton Noodle soup and it was delicious! Really relaxing atmosphere.

Good but could improve

Great location and meets all the needs of a good hotel. Slightly outdated, feels like it needs a refresh on bathrooms and rooms. The foyer and lifts area is cool but once inside it feels a little outdated without being vintage. Also the TV kept cutting out and having issues which was annoying. I would recommend the Stamford as it’s good value, but it’s not luxurious.

Hotel needs a renovation - looking a bit tired. My room wasnt serviced until 3pm on my second day and even then they did not replace all the toiletries . Rang Housekeeping for some additional toiletries and i had to call again even though they said will send straight away

Great experience. Was originally put in a suite as booked and thoroughly impressed with size, and cleanliness. Older style suite - not to everyone's taste - but I love old school 5 star. However, the toilet leaked from the 2nd day, and had to ask twice for it to be fixed. When this didn't happen the third time they just offered to 'upgrade' me to a bigger and better suite which I accepted. However, I was moved to a suite on a low floor (from floor 11 down to floor 4), no views, and it was less than half the size of the original suite. It was the final night and I had just returned from a big day at a conference so I just need to sleep anyway, however point being don't offer to 'upgrade' when it's not in fact an upgrade. Other than that - - Room service was ok 7/10 - Pool, spa, sauna was fantastic, albeit old school but still functional and clean - Breakfast was ok; not of the standard of other 5 star hotels but decent enough for the price.

Central and lovely

Great base of operations for a few nights in the city. Good size rooms, very clean and comfortable spaces. A minor request (for soy milk) got forgotten both times I stayed, which is an odd but tiny annoyance. Staff are always lovely when reminded. Rooms have a full kitchen but you need to request cookware etc if you need it (I actually prefer this, you know it is clean and can ask for exactly what you need). Surprisingly quiet at night too for such a central location, probably due to good double glazing.

Comfy beds and great spaces

Excellent place to stay with a cute little kitchenette. They’ve updated a lot of things recently including beds, tvs and head-boards which makes everything feel nice and comfy. If they changed the hardware in the bathrooms to black it would up the vibe to ultra classy. The sitting room/ lounge is a bonus that you’d never see in a standard hotel room anywhere in Melbourne and makes your stay super comfy.

I love the Stamford - the location is awesome - easy walk or tram everywhere. Beds super co day and it’s lovely and dark so you get a good nights sleep. The spa is nice and hot (just how I love it) with a flat screen tv - which was awesome for watching the tennis.
