Compare Cheap Hotels in Alberta

This is the first time I've been back since the major renovation and the hotel coming into the Basecamp family. I was a little put off about on registration before arriving, but using a code inside of key was easy. I was comforted to discover that there are staff on duty at all times. The basics that I enjoyed a half dozen times or more through 12 years or so, are there. It's convenient. It has great rates. Spacious rooms. A big soaker tub. A fireplace. And rooms with fridges and microwaves. The bathroom remodel means no shelves, but there are hangers for towels you use. Minor inconvenience. Will go back as I have ever since staying there for the Alberta Winter Games.

We stayed in a one bedroom suite with kitchen. I loved the location on the edge of town surrounded by trees and beautiful scenery. It was a 5 minute drive to the downtown parking areas and we walked to most places from there.

What I loved most about this property was the fabulous sitting area in the lobby, with its big comfy couches, and a roaring fire going in the massive fireplace. The one thing that happened though that I was a bit disappointed in was being offered an upgrade to our room, which I gladly accepted, only to find that the standard mountain view room that I paid extra for turned into a room with a gas fireplace and a balcony but no mountain view. When I checked my booking website to see what the difference in price would have been, there was no difference at all. So much for the upgrade! I didn’t complain but I will be much more aware the next time, in any hotel.

It truly was a castle in the Rockies. The staff made sure it was a memorable trip for my entire family
