Best sleep we've ever had in that bed! So comfortable... Didn't want to leave! Love that they had a coffee machine in the room for our morning coffee before hitting the city. Great bathroom with soaker shower head. Definitely recommend!

"Great hotel"
Lovely hotel, excellent location and nice touches like double glazed windows and automatic blinds to keep noise and light out. Only a few small things that would have made this better 1. Tv wasn't working properly and no movie options - staff tried to figure it out and then offered to move us which we did and they upgraded us also - nice result but wasted a bit of time. 2. We had late check out but had a cleaner buzzing the room incessantly about 40 mins before check out - she was embarrassed when i let her know we have late check out and must not have got the memo! Great though

"Great Experience"
Greatly enjoyed my short stay at Next Hotel, booked the "crash pad", even though it was small, it was modern, great comfortable bed and loved the 4 items free offer from the Mini Bar, a great differentiator. Also, the quick check out was fantastic, just drop your electronic key at the desk and go! I will be back again.

"Good value centrally located hotel"
Stayed in room on 14th floor overlooking railway. Some railway noise but not a problem. Rooms were clean and tidy with good temperature control in room. Note from management in room advising fan in bathroom not working. Water pressure and temperature not so good in bathroom. Complimentary Wi-Fi, capsule coffee and bottled water was nice.

"Definitely stay here again"
Usually stay at 'Oaks on Charlotte' at least 6 times a year, but will be staying at 'Oaks Festival Towers' instead from now on. Its a more pleasant experience all round. The staff are lovely, nothing is too much trouble and very professional. The lifts were pretty good given how many floors it has, not a very long wait at all. The Pool and Spa were clean and accessible, and the gym was great as well. While the 2 Oaks are only a very short distance between them you just feel closer to Town and surrounding shopping. Parking is really easy, you just need to make sure you Google entry or ask staff.

Go bush and climb Mt Gravatt before tramping through the Toohey Forest and then check out some native Aussie critters at the Daisy Hill Koala Centre. Or if you'd prefer to spend a bit of time on the coastline, you can splash about at Wynnum Beach and then go for a walk along the Mangrove Boardwalk.

Love your sport? Catch a cricket match at the Gabba or have a game of cricket yourself by setting up your wickets at Greenslopes Park or Moorbell Street Park and whiling away the arvo.

    Shopping and dining

Although Garden City in Mt Gravatt is the best-known shopping centre in Brisbane's southern suburbs, there are plenty of other spots to get a good dose of retail therapy. There's the Eight Mile Plains Shopping Centre and Sunnybank Market Square, for starters. There are also heaps of vintage shops and boutique fashion stores dotted around the place - the antique stores in Woolloongabba are a must-stop. Also, the Saturday Fresh Markets and the Sunday Discovery Markets at Rocklea are always popular. So make sure you bring your credit cards!

When it comes to dining in Brissy's southern 'burbs, you couldn't be more spoiled for choice! There's everything from Ethiopian to Italian and Thai to Mod Oz! So, you won't have any issues finding a place that suits your taste and budget.

    Getting here and around

Most of Brisbane's southern suburbs are only about 20km from the Brisbane Airport, so score a seat on one of our cheap flights to Brisbane and then cruise around on public buses and trains. Easy peasy!
