Beautiful with partial river views

Booked a staycation for our anniversary. The hotel is new and lovely, and had wonderful amenities. Two things though: 1. We had booked a River King Room. While there was definitely a view of the river, it was a partial view from part of the room. When in bed, you had a view of a close by building and inner city. Other hotels in Brisbane are incredibly transparent when you have a partial view, which would have been appreciated. 2. The Star is large and unfortunately their signage is lacking. When trying to use lifts it wasn’t always clear which tower you were in, so half the time our cards wouldn’t work and we would have to go back to the ground floor and make our way across to the other lifts. Even trying to find the lifts was a trial.

Spectacular hotel in Brisbane

The star Grand hotel Brisbane is nothing short of amazing!! There is a huge complex with a delightful leisure deck on the 7th floor, many restaurants on the 4th floor, a casino on the 5th floor, and an outstanding roof deck with more restaurants on the 23rd floor. From the 4th floor you can go directly across a beautiful pedestrian bridge that crosses the river to the South Bank cultural precinct. Design detail was spared and the hotel is absolutely gorgeous, 5 stars all the way!!

The hotel has the most beautiful pool area - 3 pools to choose from and a gorgeous gym. The choice of places to dine is wonderful and Sokyo was outstanding! The room had a wonderful view through the two buildings to the hinterland, so it made absolutely no difference that we did not have a river view. Huge sweeping window, the height of the ceiling makes all the difference. Lovd staying here.

From arrival to checkout: warm, switched-on staff, immaculate spaces, and a property that balances energy with calm. What stood out: Rooms: modern, quiet, thoughtfully designed; elite sleep with blackout curtains. Sauna & pool: spotless, relaxing, and genuinely restorative—perfect reset after long days. Dining & bars: great range on-site; quality food and attentive service. Casino & vibe: lively yet well managed; felt safe and welcoming throughout. Location & views: easy access to river/city; stunning outlooks. I’m a Brisbane local, and this was so good I’m making it a monthly getaway for my mental and physical wellbeing. If you’re on the fence—book it. Consistent quality and genuine hospitality. I’ll be back.
