The Trapp Family Lodge and Monteverde Cloud Forest Lodge are a few of the short and long-stay options here. 30 kilometres to the northwest of Tronadora you'll also find Bijagua, home to the B&B Hotel Sueño Celeste and Finca Mei Tai Well Being Lodge. If you're staying in Bijagua, set aside some time to check out Rio Celeste Waterfall and Llanos de Cortez Waterfall.
Travel 30 kilometres east and you'll find La Fortuna, a regional centre with a population of 3,000. While you're checking out this neck of the woods, you'll be able to hang your camera 'round your neck and get your tourist on at Arenal Adventure World, La Fortuna Waterfall and Ecoglide Arenal Park. If you end up hanging out for a while, continue on and check out the vibe at Termales Los Laureles and Ecotermales Fortuna. La Fortuna has hotels and apartments that should suit most tastes and budgets, such as the Arenal Country Inn and Lomas del Volcán.
Unless you're planning to spend a night on the floor of Daniel Oduber International Airport, it's probably a good idea to book some accommodation before you fly. The Hilton Garden Inn Liberia Airport is not too far away, or you could always travel to the centre of town. It's 65 kilometres away.
