+ Great location. Walkable to Nathan Phillips Square, Dondas St, Queen St West, Toronto Sign. But in a quiet, safe and clean street. Lots of Uber and Lyft cars around. So minimum wait time for rides. + Friendly staff. Clean rooms. Nice lobby. - The gym is very basic. Breakfast is available for a fee.

I rarely give negative reviews, but our stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Toronto Downtown was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences my family has ever had. We were in Toronto for a special event, and the hotel’s issues impacted our ability to enjoy it. The biggest problem was the keyless entry system, which failed on two separate nights. The issue wasn’t demagnetized cards but a malfunctioning door lock. After returning from dinner, we couldn’t access our room, forcing us to make several trips to the front desk with a tired child in tow. This disrupted our sleep schedule and made it harder to enjoy the event we traveled to participate in. The room’s cleanliness was also concerning. The bathtub was clogged, and we had to clear it ourselves, removing hair and debris. We also found bloodstains on a bed sheet and thick caked dust around the headboard and outlets, which was uncomfortable. While the hotel staff was kind and professional, the issues seemed to reflect broader maintenance and service problems, not individual efforts. At checkout, we were offered 5,000 Hilton Points, which we accepted due to the crowded lobby and not wanting to delay others from checking out. We later shared our concerns with a Guest Assistance Specialist who reached out to us, but they ignored us twice, showing no interest in addressing the issues. Given all these problems, we cannot recommend this hotel.

I’ve stayed at Hilton properties before and always trusted the brand, but during our June 20–22 stay at DoubleTree Toronto, we encountered two insects in the room—one on the bed and another on the floor. The staff inspected the room and later said it was likely a beetle due to the summer season, not a bedbug. While I appreciate the follow-up, the experience was still quite uncomfortable.

It was a lovely surprise to be given a warm cookie on arrival. Staff were very pleasant and helpful when we checked in. In particular we would like to thank Jing who helped us arrange our trip to Niagra Falls with his suggestion for a reliable tour company. It was the highlight of our trip . The location of the hotel is perfect for ease of seeing the sites. The only downside to our stay was the noisy air conditioning, we turned it off at night time.

My stay was only one night. The room was small, but very comfortable. It was newly renovated and on the 20th floor. The choice of colours and textures was very nice for the space. The welcome cookie was a lovely touch. The restaurant has delicious food and lots of options. I had the fish tacos and they were so good! I find the compact nature of the room made it difficult for a pleasing layout in the washroom. It was quite cramped and poorly lit. There is a full sized tub though. That was really nice. The only strong negative I found was the overspilling garbage on the street about 20-30m from the entrance. I know it's the city's responsibility to empty those bins, but the hotel may do well to take care of them anyway just to keep the property looking nice.

Perfect for our purposes.

We stayed for three days, for family and friends events. The hotel was in an ideal location near transit to get to various parts of town, ranging from the East End to West End. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful, cleaners were efficient and the room was well set up. We had breakfast and one dinner in the hotel dining room and found the selection and service was professional.
