We visited the SO/ Bangkok once before in 2018 and absolutely loved it back then. Unfortunately, our recent stay was a big disappointment, mainly due to the staff. The employees appeared distant, unwelcoming and at times almost arrogant. There was none of the warmth and hospitality Thailand is usually known for. We were traveling with a small child and experienced wonderful child-friendliness everywhere else in Thailand – except at this hotel. We really did not feel welcome. The check-in process was very unorganized and chaotic. Additionally, the condition and cleanliness of the room did not meet the standards one would expect from a 5-star hotel. Last but not least, the pool was extremely cold, which made it unusable, especially with a child. Sadly, this stay did not live up to our previous experience, and we left very disappointed.

Breakfast at SO/ Bangkok was an excellent way to start the day. The menu offered a wide variety of options, blending international classics with Thai flavors. From fresh tropical fruits, pastries, and eggs made to order, to local dishes and healthy choices, everything was well presented and consistently fresh. The quality of ingredients really stood out, especially the coffee and hot dishes. The location of the breakfast area adds to the experience, with a stylish, modern design and plenty of natural light. It feels calm yet vibrant, making it ideal whether you’re easing into the morning or preparing for a full day exploring Bangkok. What truly elevated the experience was the service. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, always quick to clear plates or offer assistance. Their kindness and genuine hospitality made us feel very welcome—smiles, polite greetings, and a willingness to accommodate requests made a noticeable difference. Overall, breakfast at SO/ Bangkok combines great food, a beautiful setting, and outstanding service, setting a high standard for hotel dining in the city.

I couldn't sleep for 2 nights because of the street noise. The hotel is in the corner of 2 major roads and the double glazing is very poor. Tried 3 different rooms but same result. All signature rooms are facing the park but between the park and the hotel there's a highway. After 2 nights I gave up and asked for a refund. The hotel won't refund the remaining nights blaming hotels.com which in return is blaming the hotel for not accepting to refund.

Smooth check-in. Average quality room but good view from high floor. Shower OK - but shower gels etc in ceramic outer counter. Unfortunately, this slipped from shelf so after shower went to inform reception so that cleaners were aware before going into shower area. On checkout bill showed BHT 1000 as the cost of breakage for one ceramic container for their shower gel. Not very clever to charge such a price. Had a flight so asked why such a high price but was told that this was the cost. Paid and went to get my taxi. Slippery ceramics in shower areas - not rocket science really as to what is likely to happen. I wonder what excuse the management will have in response to charging Baht 1000 for one ceramic container. They have hundreds in use - maybe mine was gold plated ???
