Holidays in Aramac

When you see seriously stunning vistas plastered all over the telly, it's hard not to get a bad case of FOMO. So why not spoil yourself with a getaway in Aramac and experience the picture-postcard rivers of Queensland Outback?

It's situated 1,400 kilometres north of the capital of Australia, Canberra.

Looking for some other nearby localities? Barcaldine is about 65 kilometres to the south, so hop in the car and start exploring! Alternatively, Muttaburra, 85 kilometres northwest of Aramac, is also worth the trip.

Feel like something to get your heart pumping? For a fun and memorable adventure through the surrounding landscape, try out some rock climbing or mountain climbing.

If the kids are restless from all the sightseeing, why not take them out for a relaxing day of picnicking or bird watching?

Why waste valuable time trying to devise the perfect itinerary when the hard work has already been taken care of? Guided nature walks, wildlife spotting tours and wildlife safaris help take the hassle out of sightseeing.

There's no saying what you'll discover inside the doors of the region's art museums, history museums, art galleries and craft workshops, but you can be certain it'll be fascinating!

On the hunt for something outdoors that will please everyone? The local area offers visitors some marvellous open-air museums and open-air exhibits.

Tingle your taste buds and fill your Instagram with mouthwatering images by tasting some of this destination's excellent food and drink offerings. Just don't forget to hashtag 'yum'!

Looking for an introduction to the local cuisine? We suggest you get a taste for beef and bush tucker, two essential ingredients which make up lots of dishes here.

While you're in Aramac, dine like a local. That means ordering a plate of salt and pepper squid or meat pie, a couple of the region's specialty dishes.

If you love dessert, you won't be disappointed. Be sure to try peach melba, a yummy treat that's guaranteed to hit your sweet spot.

If you truly want to see the big pitcher, take the hopportunity to knock back a beer. Schooner rather than later! Dorky beer puns aside, don't forget to try XXXX Summer Bright Lager, one of the most popular local brews.

For something with a little more kick, order a couple of shots of Bundaberg Spiced Rum. Drink it down straight or ask the barkeeper for any mixed-drink recommendations.

You needn't be an authority on vino to recognise a tasty drop! Here, Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon and Riverina Chardonnay shouldn't be ignored.

Time spent exploring the breathtaking Queensland Outback region is a truly unique experience, and hopefully it will have touched you with its magic. But alas, all holidays must come to an end.

With a bit of planning, making it to Barcaldine Airport (BCI), the nearest airport, shouldn't be too much trouble. It's around 65 kilometres south of downtown Aramac.

"All good but we did find the breakfast a bit boring. It is the same menu for the last 6 months at least. no cereal, or any different breads on offer. All the staff were nice. The hotel offers a good location, with good walks along the river very close."
