It has 100kms of beaches and holiday activities galore, from wildlife to wild nightlife.
But “the Sunny Coast” is still a refreshingly laidback destie, with more than enough soft sand and shimmering sea to go around. Just one hour’s drive from Brisbane, the Sunny Coast is the ideal place to take some time out, relax, surf, swim, get a tan, or let your dog off the leash. There’s also market shopping, tranquil rainforest villages, nature hikes, theme parks and animal attractions. Feeling like the Coast has the most? We agree! Snap up our Sunshine Coast accommodation and live every lastminute.
Things to do
The Sunny Coast has plenty of cool towns filled with cool things to do. If you’re a live music lover, make your way to Peregian Beach for an afternoon of live music known as “the Peregian Originals”. Check out the Coast’s largest mall in Maroochydore, or the beachfront esplanade cafes of Mooloolaba. Check out a gallery or museum in Caloundra, or go the Hinterland for a rainforest retreat in Montville or Maleny.
The Coast’s beaches are clean, white, peaceful and usually patrolled by surf lifesavers. There are surf beaches like Moffat Beach and Point Cartwright, family-friendly beaches like Noosa and dog-friendly beaches like Currimundi.
After dark, you can take your pick from the Sunny Coast’s nightlife, where choices include dance clubs where you can party ‘til dawn, classy cocktail establishments and live music pubs.
Nature and animal lovers have plenty of reasons to visit the Sunny Coast too. There are national parks, forests and hiking trails in stunning locations like the Glass House Mountains. There are colourful parks like Noosa Botanical Gardens. Australia Zoo is the home of the Irwin family and all kinds of animals. Enjoy the Crocoseum, Roo Heaven or Tiger Temple (they’re exactly what they sound like).
Shopping and dining
The Sunny Coast has heaps of markets for your shopping pleasure and one of the best and biggest is Eumundi Markets. With the motto “make it, bake it. Sew it, grow it”, colourful stalls beneath a canopy of fig trees sell everything from art to jewellery to ever-so-much yummy food. Caloundra has its own good old-fashioned street fair, where Bulcock Street springs to life with over 200 shopping stalls plus live music and street theatre. You’ll find no shortage of shopping throughout the rest of the Coast too: book shops and boutiques in Maleny, an open-air shopping centre in Noosa, a big shopping plaza in Maroochydore... the list goes on.
On the Sunny Coast, the dining is fine as well. You can gorge yourself on tasty food in award-winning restaurants with local wine, sip a well-made coffee at a seaside café, or keep it simple and enjoy fish and chips on the beach with your besties at sunset. Trendy cafes, surf clubs, wineries and casual dining – it’s all here and it’s all yummy.

The past couple of times I’ve stayed at Mantra Mooloolaba I’ve noticed the audio system doesn’t work. It’s a Bluetooth docking station that would be fantastic should it work, but it doesn’t. An upgrade to these would be fantastic and make the stay even more enjoyable.
