Good Afternoon, I recently stayed at Double Tree Hilton 128 W. 29th Street New York, NY. 8/7/25-8/11/25 room 2509 and I have to say this was an absolute nightmare. I took my concerns to the front desk and all I got was “oh, I am so sorry, I will write this down and take note of your issues” I understand that not every hotel is perfect and without a few inconveniences or quirks but the list just went on. The first night there I was up most of the night due to this horrible noise intermittently that sounded like a fog horn in the distance. We determined that it must have been the pipes possibly but it went on day and night for the entire stay. The shower was an adventure. I understand water pressure issues in a large building / hotel but it wasn’t losing water pressure during the shower you actually lost ALL water. You had to stand there soaped up and wait and hope that the water came back on and you could rinse a little at a time as the water came back on. The refrigerator did not work, we kept a bucket of ice in there to help keep things cold. In between the beds there was a soft spot / hole and it make the flooring uneven and you kept catching your toes / foot on it and I must say it was not exactly comfortable when you hit that spot. Then the elevators, what a mess. There are 2 elevators and most of the weekend one or the other was out of order. I am almost 60 yrs old and I can tell you 25 flights of stairs is not an easy task. One day that 1 elevator was out I made it down

Air con was unbelievably noisy, shower was coming away from the wall so no possibility to angle it meaning a flooded bathroom, plug would not stay out meaning you are standing in lukewarm shower water and toiletry bottles in bathroom were mostly empty

I travel frequently for work and was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Room was comfortable -we had 4 xxl suitcases! Beds were dreamy. View was gorgeous. Great staff more than made up for Property being slightly dated- Conveniently located: we had meetings in different places and everything was relatively close Walked to Flatiron restaurant area, to Madison Square Garden, to Union Square and to Highline Overall great stay

Before writing this review, I reached out to Hilton corporate and never head back from them so posting my review here. I stayed at the DoubleTree Hotel with my family, booking two rooms for four nights. While the location was convenient and central, our overall experience was quite disappointing, especially considering the Hilton name. Housekeeping was inconsistent. Coffee and disposable cups were not replenished regularly, and I had to clean the coffee machine myself every day. Even after requesting refills, it would take up to 45 minutes for them to arrive, which was frustrating. The most troubling part of our stay occurred on the last day when one of the elevators was out of service. It took us nearly 45 minutes to get down from the 11th floor. With very limited room in the working elevator, we had no choice but to send my mother and our luggage down first. The rest of us, including my 75-year-old father had to take the stairs. It was an exhausting and unacceptable situation, especially for older guests. For a DoubleTree by Hilton property, I expected far better service, maintenance, and responsiveness. Unfortunately, this stay did not meet the standards I’ve come to associate with the Hilton brand. I will not be staying at this property or recommend anyone either.

Hotel was good for New York, cleanliness was reasonable, room size average for New York. Air con was a bit noisy but the elevators were lacking only 2 for the hotel and had over 10 mins wait a couple of times. Close to the subway and area around the hotel was ok. Hotel facilities were good and staff very friendly and helpful. Would stay there again as is a good option for location and price.
