Hotels In Lakes Entrance
A popular tourist destination and fishing port in the eastern part of Victoria, Lakes Entrance is only around 320 kilometres away from chilled out Melbourne. With the country’s biggest system of inland waterways, it’s a top place for people who like to enjoy being outdoors and playing on the water! Close to both the ocean and the lakes, it’s the perfect place for a varied and fun-filled break at any time of the year. Our excellent Lakes Entrance accommodation ensures a comfortable stay in the heart of this gorgeous area.
HistoryOriginally called Cunninghame, the town was renamed at the start of 1915. Take a stroll along the Esplanade and you will see wooden carvings that depict Australia at war. The historical Stony Creek Railway Bridge is thought to be the biggest remaining wooden bridge in the country.
Things to doMany activities are based, unsurprisingly, around the water. The beautiful lakes offer a variety of water sports and fishing and you can mix and match adventure with relaxation. Cruise around the lakes and explore by catamaran or peddle boat. The beach is great for sunbathing, surfing, and soaking up the seaside vibe and you can enjoy beautiful walks in the sand dunes.
Colquhoun State Forest is a pretty place to enjoy nature and if you’re up for a game of golf you won’t be disappointed. Bullant Brewery is ideal for beer lovers – sample some of the locally produced ales and see how they are made. A number of scenic lookout points offer great views and there are peaceful gardens to enjoy.
Shopping and diningSeafood at Lakes Entrance is delicious and you have the option of catching your own or dining in one of the excellent restaurants. There are heaps of places to eat and shop along the Esplanade.
Getting here and aroundFeeling inspired? A cheap flight to Melbourne and a Lakes Entrance hotel are all you need to start living the dream and enjoying this stunning part of the country.
