I booked this Beacon Hotel (South Beach) for my birthday weekend (2 days). My flight was delayed 4 times before ultimately cancelled. So requested my refund and went home. The airport refunded me but The Beacon hotel kept my money. Mind you Expedia contacted them while I was at the airport well before Noon to request the refund. We were directed to email the owner as we requested to speak to the manager during the call. The manager responded 2 days after my booking’s check out date and called it a “no show”. The fact the manager called it a “No Show” was crazy.

Very outdated. Very small rooms. Only 3 people can fit on the elevator at one time. Housekeeping do a half job cleaning your rooms. Beds were only made up with the same sheets everyday. Had to ask everyday for toilet paper. Phone and iron was broken. Safe was not secured to a solid surface. Watch the bartender drop ice scoop as well mixing glass in the floor and use it right away never cleaned or sanitized. Watched the bartender grab dirty drinking glasses from off the bar by the rim, then proceeded to make new drinks without washing his hands as well with the dirty ice scoop and mixing glass.

Great location

Great location, the hotel is tired and old the rooms are dirty. The beds are hard and bedding is thin. The main hotel areas are nice, we wanted a retro hotel on the beach this is satisfactory. They have a great staff, bikes to use and a good street side restaurant. For the price is was suitable.
