When you see seriously stunning landscapes plastered all over the telly, it's hard not to suffer from FOMO. So why not spoil yourself with a trip to Lugo and experience the picture-postcard coastal plains, rivers, canals and bays of Venice?

The country's capital, Rome, sits around 390 kilometres to the south of Lugo.

A trip out to Villatora should be a priority. It's located 14 kilometres to the west and is home to such well-known sights as the University of Padova, Scrovegni Chapel and Church of the Eremitani.

Plan a day to watch the sun set over Marina Romea Beach, 95 kilometres to the south.

There is a variety of lovely natural sights outside of Lugo. Why not head 19 kilometres to San Michele Island? Alternatively, experience the natural beauty of the Grillara Fossil Dunes, 45 kilometres away.
