I landed at LAX around 11 p.m. with my son, who preferred staying at a hotel instead of overnighting at the airport. I checked Google Maps and chose this hotel because it appeared close to the airport and I expected a shuttle, as most airport hotels provide one. I booked through Expedia and walked to the shuttle pickup area, but after waiting over 30 minutes, no shuttle ever arrived.
When I checked my email, I saw two messages from the hotel: the first confirming my booking, and the second—sent just two minutes later—stating that they had discontinued their shuttle service as of 1/1/22. At that point, I immediately contacted Expedia to cancel and ended up taking the Westin shuttle and paying for a room there instead.
Expedia reached out to the hotel, but the hotel refused to issue a refund, claiming the information was on their website. However, I booked through Expedia, where no such notice was clear, and I had every expectation of a shuttle. Had I known otherwise, I never would have booked. If possible, I would rate this hotel zero stars.
