Grassmarket was lovely and has an amazing location but your experience is very dependent on which room you get and the time of year. We stayed for 2 different nights to cap off a 3 day tour to the highlands and each stay was wildly different. Our first night stay had us considering canceling and rebooking due to our concerns. Some important things to note is that this hotel has no AC, which is common in Europe, however if you happen to utilize the window and are near the interior patio you will have the smell of smoke come in any time someone uses the space for that. Not ideal to say the least. The other issues were with the bathroom and carpet in the room. Our bathroom had quite a few things broken when we arrived and the carpet in the room was rippled as if it had been extremely worn or water damaged. For the cost of a single night it seemed absurd. Our second stay was much better. The room had no issues, was cool due to 2 windows instead of 1, and not near the smokers paradise. Also nothing was broken upon arrival and checkin was much smoother.

Staff is very helpful. The gym is biggest and best ever. Room is clean. Thanks for the hospitality

Beautiful hotel. Great amenities! I am surprised they don’t have a hot tub but the steam room was super nice. Our room was super clean. The hotel is in a great location for walking to anything

The hotel had four floors. One was below grade one at grade and two above grade. There was no elevator. Carrying luggage upstairs could be a problem for older people. We used the luggage storage before we checked in. It was nice but using the electronic lock system was a hassle. The room was very nice and spacious. The TV was a bit small. The bathroom was very nice. It had a large soaking tub and a big shower. Our room was in the basement so we had to keep the blinds closed because people could see in there when they walked by. Staff could’ve left more coffee. Generally, there was only one pod per person. The location was pretty good. It was in between two different tram stations in Leith and there were coffee shops and bakeries nearby. Many restaurants within a 10 minute walk. Overall, the area was nice. It was about a 15 minute tram ride to the old town District of Edinburgh. The area was not nearly as crowded as Edinburgh.

The location of the hotel is excellent, however due to construction going on outside the hotel the area is dirty. The staff is excellent and the rooms are clean. I did find a long black hair in my shower… I’m blonde.

Nice hotel, well located. Clean and great breakfast. Only complaint is the cleaning staff was super loud yelling up and down the hall
