Very nice hotel in a vibrant location

Perfect location for the bustling Grassmarket and Old Town. It's also a Fringe venue. Stunning view of the castle. Room clean and tidy. Restaurant served excellent food, bar area could be brighter and more welcoming.

The front desk staff & the manager couldn’t have been nicer. The issue was with the room. The temperature in the room was HOT & the noise outside was loud. Yes - I visited during August which I didn’t realize was the Fringe. There was no way to close the window as it was the only way to get air. The hotel hosted so many of the comedy shops - fabulous shows but the groups outside waiting made the noise level high thru 1am. The bed was extremely hard. Bathroom was nice & clean. Hotel staff - super nice! Breakfast was great & convenient. There is a fan in the room. The hotel is right across from great dinner places and it’s a stop on the hop-on hop-off lines.

The property is right in the heart of the city with easy access to many attractions. The balcony room offers stunning views. The only negative is the lack of air conditioning in the rooms. We had trouble sleeping as the room was a bit too warm for us.

Location was amazing, a great central location with an amazing view of the castle. Beds could use some updating and a notice that there is no AC in the rooms would have been nice when booking. The hotel has AC but in the rooms they give you a desk fan - or two if you’re nice (we travelled first week of August 2025 during an unseasonably warm time for the area).

Fabulous spot to stay in Edinburgh

I booked this hotel for a trip to Scotland with my adult children without knowing much about the area. Were we ever amazed to arrive and have Edinburgh castle across the way with a view of the castle from our window. Walkable to tons of shops and restaurants. Absolutely wonderful helpful staff. So friendly. Highly recommend this hotel!

Excellent property. No air conditioning or way to regulate room temp except a barely open window. The noise is big until 2 am because several bars across street and castle has military tattoo. Comfortable and adequate. They clean well but when we checked in the outside of our toilet had a small smear of stool. Thank goodness we had Clorox wipes

I don’t think this is a 4 star hotel and I don’t get high review at all. The room was quite tired looking and the carpet badly stained. In addition, I didn’t sleep for the entire 2 nights stay. The room was noisy and we were facing a loading area, the noise started very early in the morning. Location is good and the staff is friendly.

The hotel offers plenty of food and activities right off of the Royal Mile. Our room was nice, clean, and quiet. I would definitely stay there again.

This is a lovely hotel right in the middle of everything in Old Town. The room was clean, comfortable and there was a beautiful shower and clean fluffy towels. We also visited the sauna and pool which were an added bonus. Breakfast was amazing- lots of variety. We actually arrived hours early and the wonderful gentleman at the desk assigned us a room and was very helpful. Would definitely return! Oh and forgot about our duck friend who was in our room to greet us- what a great idea!
