This vibrant city has a population of around 1,500,000 people, along with stacks of adventures you’ll want to check off your bucket list. Arriving by air? Once you've kissed the tarmac at Itami Airport, you'll need to travel 35 kilometres east to get to Joyo. The suburb is 19 kilometres to the south of central Kyoto.
This city has no shortage of impressive things to do, and you'll discover many of them near Joyo. It's a challenge to choose the top attractions, but the Byodoin Temple and Uji Bridge are two you can't miss. Don't forget to put Iwashimizu Hachiman-gu and the Mt. Otokoyama Cable Car on your checklist too. While you're in town, consider going to some other neighbourhoods to taste more of what Kyoto offers. Kuse-gun and Uji are good recommendations that aren't too far away.
One of the first sightseeing recommendations in any guidebook will no doubt be Nijo Castle. So what are you hanging around for? This well-known attraction is located just 2 kilometres from the downtown area.
Searching for some inspiration on things to do in the centre of the city? Kick off a satisfying day of sightseeing at Fushimi Inari Shrine and Kyoto Tower. Katsura Imperial Villa and Heian Shrine should also be part of any visit downtown.
Prepare some snacks and invite a few friends down for a chat in one of the vibrant urban parks nearby. You have a number of options, including Furitsu Uji Park and Tanabe Park.
Regardless of your beliefs, it's worth visiting Aagata Shrine, Uji Shrine, Ujigami Shrine and the Mimurotoji Temple.

Room was spacious for Japanese standards. Good location right at the train. Plenty of dining options within the building if needed. Check in process could be better. Long line and everything automated. I prefer dealing with humans.
