We liked the ability to walk to the hotel from Hongkong Central and explore the area around it. It was a good one night stay, we enjoyed fresh cofee in reception area. Hotel is eco friendly.

Going Backwards

It seems that the Butterfly is going backwards. The room was very disappointing. When I've booked a superior room before it's been much more roomy. The one on this trip was cramped and badly laid out. Also there is a kettle but no tea or coffee provided. There is not even a teaspoon. We were also put on the 3rd floor. Previously the rooms have been on a much higher floor and hence more light and airy. Very disappointing that a previously good hotel offered this experience.

Lovely Butterfly in Hong Kong

Great comfortable hotel. Located very conveniently by Hong Kong Station at end of MTA from airport. Clean rooms. Coffee available. Located in middle of vibrant area. Good tramsport links. No breakfast but grear bakeries and coffee shops close by. Good value.

Rooms were OK and a decent size, and decor was good - with an old world China feel to it, but room’s window design makes it feel a bit like staying in an office. Bathrooms were OK and it’s nice to have a rainfall shower. Reception area is decent but you enter the property through a tatty ground floor - needs to be upgraded. Most of the reception staff were warm, friendly and helpful.

We know Hong Kong well, having lived there 10 years, but back for a visit. Wellington was our first choice as great Central location.

Comfortable beds, clean room, friendly staff. Good location for lots of good food and night life. Not too far of a walk from a couple MTR stations. May be challenging if you have a young child who still requires a stroller and can't/won't walk very far. It is a pretty hilly area with lots of stairs (trade off is that it does put your right in the middle of all the action)

My room had a very firm bed and an excellent shower. I experienced several problems during my stay, and I had to move to a new room, but the hotel staff were very responsive and the issues were dealt with promptly. The sink plug in the first room got stuck in the closed position on the second day, and the staff were unable to fix it, so I had to move to a new room for the second night. The curtains in both rooms would not close properly - in the first room I managed to adjust them, but in the second room one curtain was not quite wide enough to cover the window and the staff had to pin them shut with several "butterfly" clips that they use to decorate the pillows. There is no heating in the hotel - the staff had to supply a portable heater when I moved to the second room, because the aircon had been set at 20 degrees all day long, and there was no way it would get any warmer in the evening without heating. The internet was very slow and glitchy - my laptop could not connect to the WiFi in the first room on the 7th floor - I suspect some fault with part of the mesh on that floor, because it connected with no problem in the second room on the 3rd floor. The safe in the room is only large enough to hold up a 12 inch laptop/tablet. I chose this hotel because it is close to the Hong Kong MTR station, but it is a bit of a hike through the pedestrian walkways and it took me a few attempts to find the correct route even with help from Google Maps.
