Hotels In Margaret River Wine Region

Take a much needed break and indulge your senses in one of the world's premium wine regions. When you stay in one of our Margaret River Wine Region hotels, you'll discover much more than just great wine. You'll also be spoiled with gourmet food, beautiful scenery and visits to Aussie icons and amazing natural landmarks.

History

Since the region's humble beginnings in the 1960s, the Margaret River Wine Region has grown to include more than 150 wine producers and over 90 vineyards that are open to the public. One-fifth of Australia's finest wines are produced right here, but it’s best known for its chardonnay and cabernet sauvignon, so make sure you sample a drop or two.

Things to Do

This area is one of the most beautiful corners of Western Australia and as you travel from winery to winery, you'll be stunned by the surf beaches, forests and quaint villages that make up the landscape.

Whether you choose to go on a guided group tour, self drive, live the high life in a chauffeured car or just cycle from cellar door to cellar door, you'll absolutely fall in love with the unique blends and flavours produced in this region's vineyards. Many of the wineries are also home to some highly acclaimed restaurants, so you can pair up your favourite wine with a gourmet bite to eat. Of course, if you're not much of a wine lover, you could always take a tour of some of the local boutique breweries instead.

Aside from spectacular wine, this region is also famous for its fresh produce, locally produced olive oil, delicious cheeses and handmade chocolates; all of which will perfectly complement your favourite bottle of wine. A visit to the Margaret River Chocolate Company and the Margaret River Fudge Factory are definitely in order while you're in the Margaret Riverwine region. And if you plan your trip in November, you'll be able to further indulge your taste buds at the Margaret River Gourmet Escape, the area's biggest annual event, which hosts celebrity chefs and showcases the best of the best local gourmet food and wine.

If you need to give your palate a break, you can head to Dunsborough and laze about on one of the gorgeous beaches, gazing at the bay's turquoise waters. Or you can hit the walking tracks in the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park and explore the hidden caves, visit the Cape Leeuwin and Cape Naturaliste lighthouses and take in the immense beauty of the forest. Not far from the national park, you can go for a walk along the iconic 2km jetty in Busselton, which is actually the longest in the Southern Hemisphere. Busselton is also home to "Australia's greatest artificial reef", so make sure you check out the marine life while you're here.
