Holidays in Chatswood

Bring your wanderlust along with that well-travelled suitcase. It's time to see what Chatswood is all about! A Sydney neighbourhood, it's a fantastic place to experience another side of the New South Wales capital. Up for meeting a few locals? No problemo. Around 4,600,000 people live in Sydney. Chatswood is 8 kilometres north of the centre of the city. If you're coming in from Kingsford Smith International Airport, grab a taxi and travel 16 kilometres to the north.

This city is teeming with awesome things to do, and many of them are found near Chatswood. It's a challenge to choose the best attractions, but Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge are a couple you won't want to miss. The gotta-see sights of Luna Park and the Capitol Theatre are also waiting for you. For a new perspective on the city, take off to North Shore Sydney and Roseville, close-by neighbourhoods that are definitely worth a peek.

Among the first sightseeing recommendations in any guidebook will no doubt be Bondi Beach. So what's the hold up? This big-name attraction is just 7 kilometres from the downtown area.

Keen to get a feel for the local culture? Try out the Mosman Art Gallery and the Concourse.

What better way to finish a day's activities than with a few drinks and a live performance? Check the programme guides at the Marian Street Theatre and the Ensemble Theatre.

Can you distinguish your birdie from your eagle and your putter from your driver? Whether you're a pro or a total newbie, golf is a game for everybody! You can tee off around here at the Killara Golf Club, the Chatswood Golf Club and the Royal Sydney Golf Course.

Sometimes kids can have fun in the most surprising places. Treat them with visits to the Hayden Orpheum and the Willoughby City Library.

Children love to run around and be active. Luckily, there are a handful of places in the local area where they can blow off some steam. The Spit Bridge to Manly Walk and Cremorne Point to Mosman Bay Walk are some great choices.

Nothing soothes the mind like the sounds, sights and smells of the natural world. Experience it for yourself at Lane Cove National Park, Snapper Island and Goat Island.

Balls Head Reserve, Yurulbin Point and Blues Point Reserve can give you insights into the plants, trees and birds that exist in the local area.

Something unique about this suburb is its nearby public parks. Amid all the activity, you won't struggle to find somewhere to relax and read the newspaper. Killara City Park, Elkington Park and Tambourine Bay Reserve and Warraroon Reserve Walk are some good options.

Stock up on the basics or search for a few unique gifts. Pick up all you need at Macquarie Shopping Centre, Birkenhead Point Outlet Centre, Westfield Chatswood Mall and Chatswood Chase.

The nearby heritage places will provide you with an illuminating glimpse into the area's fascinating past. May Gibbs’ Nutcote, Watch House, the Waterman’s Cottage and Cathermore have plenty of stories to tell.

Local holy places, such as Mary MacKillop Place and the ISKCON Sydney, give you the opportunity to ponder in a serene setting.

Crazy about your rugby league? Then you should take some maroon and white with you to cheer on the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval.

Each member of the staff was very friendly and helpful. They took care of everything we needed plus. There was absolutely nothing I could find wrong. I strongly recommend upgrading to an upper floor. It included many extras you don’t get from a regular room. Worth the extra for upgrade.
