Beautiful setting

Beautiful hotel in great setting. Breakfast is amazing. Grab a cocktail and enjoy at the wooden tables under the tree on the lawn.

Great stay. Older style hotel but rooms decent sized and beds comfortable. Good buffet breakfast. Great location- easy walk when arriving by train and easy to get to the ferry.

My stay was wonderful! The hotel's location near the train station and cruise dock was ideal. Friendly staff, delicious breakfast, and a quiet, dark room ensured a restful stay. The only drawback was the lack of bedside power outlets.

The bed was so comfortable with the cleanest sheets. The included breakfast was excellent! It is expensive because of the location, but a good option for an overnight stay. We stayed in the family room and it was quite spacious and looked like the pictures.

Their dining room closes at 9pm! The last Flam train gets in at 8:49 and so it is a rush to try and get to the dining - a buffet. They should extend the hours by 15 or 30 minutes and also serve a La carte especially for vegetarian guests. Their buffet is meat and fish heavy. Their breakfast buffet is also meat and fish heavy. Few hot dish options for vegetarian guests.

While the included breakfast was superior as was the view of the fjord from the restaurant, we had higher expectations for our room. The size wasn’t ideal for three adults and there wasn’t much of a view. The decor bordered on charming yet dated. The hotel’s proximity to the railway station and cruise ship ports, while convenient, made the location very touristy.

If you’re coming to Flåm then you MUST stay at the Fretheim Hotel! Breakfast is included and feels like a 5 star dining experience. Every outdoor excursion and dining is steps away. The rooms are clean, soft beds, and the views spectacular!

Avoid this place. Overpriced. Super dated (sure, historical elements, but I am talking about very dated bathroom and room), not well maintained. Dinner buffet is super pricey NOK 745 (approx US$ 75) per person! WiFi is terrible. Service is well below par.

Great location and breakfast. The bathroom was smelly, with a sewage smell coming out of the floor drain. It was not terrible, but considering the price pony of the hotel, there should have been no smell.

We made dinner reservations at 8:30 pm but our train was very delayed. It was nice that the hotel extended their dinner for us so we were able to eat. The dinner was buffet-style and the food could be grabbed until 9:00 pm regularly but was extended to 9:30 pm due to our transportation issues. The room was comfortable and had a nice view of the fjord (note there are some small buildings that obstruct the view slightly). Great breakfast buffet included. Would recommend this hotel but plan your arrival/dinner accordingly.
