This is a difficult review for me. The hotel is well situated for Auckland CBD. The facilities are nice. My room was a superior accessible King. When I checked in, I asked whether they had received my request for a modern room with good air con. Liz, who claimed to be the manager, told me that these rooms are not the renovated ones. She also told me that the hotel does not respond to messages from Expedia. I was quite upset because some of the reviews had commented on the older rooms in terms of comfort and inadequate air con. Liz told me there were no other rooms but then offered me an "upgrade" for additional money. So, I guess that there were other rooms? She also offered to refund the money so that I could get another hotel at the late hour of 4:00. I declined and went to the assigned room. In fact, the room was fine. The bed was comfortable, the wifi was good lots of hot water, a nice bathtub. The next morning another manager called me to discuss my negative check in experience. She offered me free brekky (I declined) a free taxi to the airport (I declined) and really tried to make things better. For that reason and because the room was actually quite nice, I have rated the hotel a 4. Would I stay again? Initially I said that there was no way that I would stay there again. After all, there are 100s of hotels in Auckland who actually seem to want your business. But after the other manager got involved, I have changed my mind a bit and my response is maybe.
