Holidays in Wola

Quit your job, buy a ticket, fall in love, never return. You don't need to do all those things, but one you should do is pay for that ticket to Wola. One of the many 'hoods of Warsaw, it's a terrific base for sussing out everything this city has to offer. With 1,700,000 people calling the capital of Poland home, you're bound to meet some new BFFs (or maybe even your new bae) during your trip. After landing and picking up your bags at Frederic Chopin Airport, your taxi will head 7 kilometres north to take you to Wola. From the centre of the city, it's a distance of 4 kilometres to the west.

With many of the city's top attractions close by, Wola is heaven for sightseers. From Royal Castle to Old Town Square, you won't run out of things to keep you busy. Don't forget to put Laznieki Park and Presidential Palace on your schedule too. For a fresh perspective on Warsaw, head to Kolo and Powazki, close-by neighbourhoods just waiting to be discovered.

You'll never want for things to do in the heart of Warsaw. The Warsaw Uprising Museum and the Warsaw Uprising Monument will capture your attention for hours. Powazki Cemetery and the University of Warsaw should also be part of any outing downtown.

Make your way to a few cultural places to gain a better understanding of the region. The Palm Tree, the Foksal Gallery, the Galeria Centrum and the Galeria Art are recommended stops.

While you might be able to see more and more art online these days, there's nothing like inspecting the real thing. Immerse yourself in the area's creative side at the National Museum, the Zacheta, the John Paul II Museum and the Centre of Contemporary Art.

There's no saying what you'll come across when perusing the thought-provoking collections of the Fryderyk Chopin Museum, the Polish Army Museum, the Maria Skłodowska-Curie Museum and the Copernicus Science Centre. If you don't want to miss a thing, ask the friendly staff for their top picks.

Watching a first-rate show can be a remarkable experience. Book tickets at the Grand Theatre, the National Theatre, the Warsaw Fotoplastikon and the Polish Theatre in Warsaw for a great night out.

There's nothing quite like holidaying with the kids to keep you young. Take them on an adventure to Wodny Park, the National Library of Poland and the University of Warsaw Library.

Are you travelling with children but have run out of ideas of things to keep them entertained? Park Wodny Moczydlo, Room Escape Warsaw and Pole Mokotowskie are some local places the whole family can enjoy.

Make time for some exercise at the Warsaw University Botanical Garden and Water Reservoir. A hike through any one of these leafy reserves is sure to reinvigorate the senses.

Whether you're hoping to take a relaxing stroll or hang out with some friends, the nearby green spaces are great places to be. Choose from either Saxon Gardens, Szymanki Park, Ujazdow Park and Agrykola Park.

Quite often, the best way to get the feel of a new place is by hitting the shops. Don't forget to call in to Golden Terraces, Arkadia Shopping Mall, Blue City and Galeria Mokotow Shopping Centre.

The nearby heritage attractions will provide you with a glimpse into the area's unique past. Warsaw Ghetto, the Tomb of Unknown Soldier, the Warsaw University of Technology and Castle Square have plenty of tales to tell.

Discover the region's spiritual side at Holy Cross Church, St. John's Cathedral, St. Anne's Church and Church of Holy Spirit. These sites are worth going to whether you're religious or not.

Get ready to kit yourself out in white and black and cheer until you lose your voice. Home to the Legia Warszawa SA, Polish Army Stadium is the place to get your dose of soccer entertainment.
