holidaying in waihi

our motel was way kool, kids loved the rooms and so cool we were near the pool bonus. Clean, location was perfect, and near the beach super bonus, staff were so kind and the beach view reminds me of back home in gizzy
unit 27 was the best 2 bedroom unit comfy clean and excellent location
unit 42 was clean, spacious for the kids and smelt so fresh
kids loved the playground we definitely will be back every year

The room was spacious and comfortable and well equipped. The staff were helpful in allowing us to check in early. The facilities were great at the site - lovely swimming pool and hot pool. Being close to the beach was a plus.

Winter beach Retreat

Very happy with our self contained unit. Enjoyed the empty space around it but there are 4 possible camp sites beside it and this would be intrusive so you'd have to keep your curtains closed for privacy. Glad that the unit is positioned away from the body of the camping ground so you dont get any noise from the playground or pool. Perfect for non campers like us. Lovely reception staff.

We chose the kitchen studio for our 1 night stay, it was super clean & snug. Overall no complaints apart from the Expedia advertisement. It showed us room 21 (kitchen studio) which I thought we would be staying in but once checked in we were placed in unit 5. Not a biggie but definitely wasn’t what I expected. Advertisement shows a standalone unit as for unit 5 it was the opposite, you can expect to lug your bags upstairs, thin walls and shared washroom.

Average stay

We had a self contained unit which had all needed amenities but cleanliness was not up to scratch. Flies, ants, coachcroaches, floors had lots of crumbs etc, under furniture looked like never been cleaned with dirt and cobwebs. Was close to walk to beach and good f&c shop nearby. Some things to occupy kids but we wouldn’t stay again. The Papamoa one is of much better quality

Love the eels, movie night, pool and family atmosphere. So close to the beach, and fun trikes to hire. Parking was a bit of a mission, parks are too small!

I love this holiday park, options of motel, cabin, tent or camper site. The heated pool and slide are a fabulous draw card and games room with air hockey. Right across from the beach with coffee and dairy at the doorstep. Couldn’t ask for more.
