There's nothing like rising with the sun and getting in some fresh turns at Appalachian Ski Mtn. Once you've mastered all the trails there, pack up your snowboard or skis and continue onwards to Hawksnest Tubing Park.

Seize the opportunity to head to other close-by attractions, such as the Cedar Lake Golf Course and Elkin City Park. These are situated 17 kilometres north in Ronda. Don't want to call it a day just yet? Hunting Creek Preserve and Taproot Artisans are in Harmony, 17 kilometres to the southeast of Union Grove.

Salisbury, 60 kilometres to the southeast, may be worth a day trip. Use it as a port of call when stopping by the Rowan Museum, Dr. Josephus Hall House and Salisbury National Cemetery.
