Keen for a gorgeous getaway and pronto? The Entrance is a water paradise just one-and-a-half hours north of Sydney
, famous for its massive number of local pelicans (which you can hand feed!). Whether you’re looking for an action-packed holiday or a totally chill time, the lagoons, lakes and beaches are your playground here – and there are national parks nearby to explore on land too. So ditch the city and get a slice of nature at its best. Get a posse together for a quick road trip and book your accommodation in The Entrance with us!
It’s all about the water in The Entrance because here, you’re sandwiched between Tuggerah Lake and the ocean on a teeny strip of sand. Can you picture it? That means stacks of waterside views perfect for lazing and picnics, tonnes of watersports and fishing opps, and no lack of places to cool off when your holiday really starts to heat up. Choose between the world-class beaches, the calm waters of the lake, or one of the three lagoons connected to the lake. The hardest part is choosing!
A great place for a picnic is Picnic Point, but seeing as that’s super obvious, you might prefer one of the other reserves scattered around the lake. If you’re keen to get moving, there are stacks of walking tracks through all the fab scenery. A great one is the walking track that starts on the eastern side of Bateau Bay Road at Blue Lagoon – it’s nearly four kilometres long and goes all the way to Wyrrabalong Lookout for awesome views. There’s another trail that leads to the totally stunning Crackneck Lookout, where you might even spot whales during whale-watching season! For more info about the tracks, be sure to drop by The Entrance Visitor Info Centre.
Back in town, you’ll love the really cool cosmopolitan vibe that goes with the relaxed waterside setting. This is one of the prettiest towns on the New South Wales Central Coast! The spot to go is The Waterfront, a popular area to grab a coffee or a bite to eat in one of the cafes. And on school holidays, the atmosphere is more like a carnival! If you’re into history, check out The Entrance War Library Museum for memorabilia going all the way back to the Crimean War. But whatever you do, don’t miss the arts, crafts and produce of The Entrance Farmers Markets, on the first and third Saturday of the month.
The Entrance is full of totally gorgeous views, cool chilled vibes and if you want, action on the water. With lakes, lagoons and beaches to choose from, you really can’t complain! And it’s all just an hour-and-a-half from Sydney, and an hour south of Newcastle
. Don’t just dream about a water wonderland – book a road trip here with us now! Your The Entrance hotels are waiting for you below.
