Hit the beach, wander through the forest and soak up the heritage-rich atmosphere of NSW's Central Coast when you stay in one of our Gosford hotels.History
Indigenous tribes have dwelled in the Gosford area for many generations and there are a number of sites you can visit that are still considered sacred. In more recent history, Gosford has become linked to Japan, with its Sister City, Edogawa, playing a fairly significant role in the local arts and cultural scene. If you'd like to learn more about the town's history, why not embark on the Mann Street South Heritage Walk? Along the way, you'll pass the School of Arts and the Old Courthouse, which is now used as the Conservatorium of Music, so make sure you bring your camera.Things to do
Spend a bit of time wandering around the Gosford Regional Art Gallery and Arts Centre and you'll come across some beautiful works of art while rubbing shoulders with the locals. One of the highlights of the centre is the Japanese garden and koi fish pond, which were installed by the kind folks of Edogawa (Gosford's Sister City we mentioned earlier).
Keen to immerse yourself in the Great Outdoors? Look no further than Brisbane Water, a harbour where you can swim, snorkel and sun bake to your heart's delight. There's also a national park tucked in here, as well as picnic areas and barbeque facilities but don't miss the Bulgandry Aboriginal Engravings while you're in the area.Shopping and dining
There are a couple of shopping centres in Gosford where you can flex your credit cards and there are plenty of cafes where you can refuel after your shopping spree but when your stomach starts growling, pop into Julie Goodwin's (MasterChef Season One winner) restaurant, Julies Place, for a sumptuous feast. Looking for a nightcap? Stop off at the Distillery Botanica and sample some top-quality spirits before purchasing a bottle of your fave grog.Getting here and around
Gosford is about an hour away from both the Newcastle Airport and the Sydney Airport, so nab a seat on one of these cheap flights to Newcastle or these cheap flights to Sydney and then catch the train or hire a car and drive to Gosford. Once you've arrived in town, you can get around by bus but if you hire your own set of wheels, you'll be able to explore other parts of the Central Coast as well.
