Holidays in Sukhumvit

Quit your job, buy a ticket, find love, never come back. You don't have to do all of those things, but one you should do is lock in that ticket to Sukhumvit. One of the many neighbourhoods of Bangkok, it's a terrific base for exploring everything this city has to offer. With 5,100,000 people calling the capital of Thailand home, you're bound to meet a few new like-minded BFFs during your trip. Sukhumvit is 5 kilometres southeast of the centre of the city. If you're landing in Suvarnabhumi International Airport, hurl your suitcase in the back of a taxi and make your way 19 kilometres west.

Sukhumvit is heaven on earth for sightseers. A good number of the city's top attractions are sprinkled near this neighbourhood, including Grand Palace and the Wat Pho. After taking a look at those, you'll want to continue onwards to the Wat Arun and the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. A brilliant way to immerse yourself in this city is to wander around some of its neighbourhoods. So why not go to nearby Thonglor and Wattana and discover their unique charms?

The city centre is also home to a multitude of sights to admire, such as Siam Square and Khao San Road. Don't go back to your hotel room without stopping at Jim Thompson House and Chatuchak Weekend Market as well.

Broaden your knowledge of the area at the Thailand Creative & Design Center, the Teo+Namfah Gallery, the Tadu Contemporary Art and the Number 1 Gallery. These cultural attractions are not to be missed!

From interactive displays to imagination‐sparking objects and artefacts, museums have something to keep everyone occupied. If the weather turns nasty, why not make your way over to the Suan Pakkard Palace, the Bangkok Seashell Museum, Siam Society & Ban Kamthieng and the Bangkokian Museum?

Witnessing a top-notch show can be a thrilling experience. Reserve your tickets at the Siam Niramit Bangkok, the Grand EGV Theater and the Aksra Theatre for an unforgettable night out.

Kids can be excellent travel companions, particularly if you go to the right places! For a memorable family outing, head to Sea Life Bangkok Ocean World, the Neilson Hays Library, the Madam Tussaud’s and the AIS 4DX Theater.

Are you travelling with the little ones but stuck for ideas of things to keep them amused? Dinosaur Planet, The Escape Hunt Experience and KidZania Bangkok are some local places the whole family can enjoy.

Khlong Saen Saep and Klongs are perfect places for nature enthusiasts to get out into the fresh air.

If the chaos of city life is tiring you out, recharge your batteries in one of the local green spaces. Lumpini Park, Benjakiti Park, Benjasiri Park and Santiphap Park are charming spots to kick off your shoes and relax.

Quite often, the best way to get to know a new place is by walking around the shops. Don't forget to call in to Patpong Night Market, Pratunam Market, MBK Center and Siam Paragon.

The Victory Monument, Baiyoke Tower II, Phyathai Palace and Saphan Huachang Pier have so many tales to tell. History nerd or not, you'll certainly find out something at these age-old sites.

Regardless of your beliefs, it's worth visiting the Sri Mariamman Temple, Erawan Shrine, the Ganesha Shrine and Trimurti Shrine.

Dress up in red and yellow, head in the direction of Rajamangala Stadium and cheer on the Thailand National Team. A trip here is a must for soccer fans!
