You mightn't be spoiled for choice when it comes to hotels in Sano, but fortunately, you can select from 12 digs within 30 kilometres of its centre.

It won't take long to get to downtown Sano from Route-Inn Grantia Hanyu Spa Resort and Hotel Route-Inn Ashikaga Ekimae (although with beds as cosy as these, you shouldn't be surprised if you end up running a bit behind schedule!)

The hotel is old but historic. The rooms were ample and very comfortable. The staff was super nice and went out of our way to help us feel welcome. The location is perfect, very close to the temples and at a 5 minute taxi ride from the train station. Also walkable in half an hour or less. Breakfast was very good. I would have stayed one night longer to be honest.
