We'd come back

Checkin was interesting...we did choose valet and our bellman Fast Eddie was amazing! First front desk lady told us our room wasnt ready, needed quality sign off, etc. Eddie came back to meet us at our room and was surprised, he said he already had been notified of our room number...went back again and different front desk lady welcomed us and voila there were our room passes...not sure what that was about. Restaurant was very good but have to say quite understaffed...but that seems to be a repeating theme in many industries now. Room was very nice, clean, and quiet...hot water in shower in early morning took extremely long time to get warm, i felt bad about having to run water for so long, wasteful. Location on Riverwalk fantastic, toward the quiet end but right where we wanted to be.

We were placed in a room where there was this noise that sounded like some kind of mechanical whirring. Every now and then there would be stupid kids yelling making it sound like a rollercoaster. After searching nearby there are no amusement parks in the area, but I found out there are other people that reviewed this hotel and say it's extremely noisy and the sound that I was experiencing was the stupid elevator. The rooms itself wasn't too bad but the fridge was horrible as it couldn't even cool down a drink. The other thing I didn't enjoy was there are no parking, well more like you can park a few blocks away and walk to the hotel or pay $50 for valet parking....If you get drunk and pass out on the couch the noise wouldn't be an issue.

Location was good! Person checking us in wasn’t very friendly. Wasn’t able to get into room, door needed a new battery. The engineer was taking too long to get there to replace the battery so they upgraded us to a suite which was nice. During the night the smoke alarm started chirping. We fiddled with it until it stopped. The tv in the area with the couch didn’t work. Seemed like the hotel was in need of maintenance. The ice machine on our floor was out of order but was running marking a lot of noise.

We booked another hotel walking in and it was old and outdated, nothing like the pictures. We left without checking in and reserved the Contessa while still in the other hotels lobby. When we arrived at Contessa, greeted by friendly valet, walked in to a beautiful lobby with a Mariachi band playing. Check in was easy, hotel was everything we hoped for and much more. Staying at the Contessa saved our weekend getaway!
