We booked our stay through Expedia and upgraded our room the week before we checked in. Upon arrival we realized the room was not upgraded. We told the front desk and we were not provided a solution. The room was small and the upgraded room was supposed to include extra square footage in the room along with a bathtub, but instead we were placed in a room with only a shower. The shower smelled like mold/mildew and throughout our stay we had to open the balcony doors to get rid of the smell. The breakfast was nice and the view from the room was nice though.

As we spent three weeks traveling from city to city in Italy, we had several other hotels to compare Emona Aquaeductus to. I chose this hotel as exceptional visual design is a requisite in choosing hotels- this hotel is very beautiful. Too, we came full circle regarding being right next to a major Ancient Roman monument. Our room was exceptionally lovely but a bit short on basic, essential amenities - no coffee maker, no luggage rack, no shelving in the bath for toiletries. The lighting in the bathroom was inadequate. The breakfast hours were brief and early - 7:30-9:30 and if you wanted coffee you had to order it from the staff! Too, the coffee temperature was only warm. Breakfast was okay, but there was not much available - we had to ask for juice, there was no breakfast meat, little fruit and the pastries were dry and stale. On a positive note, the staff was very nice ( they helped us order a taxi and gave us some coffee prior to 7:30am). In addition, the original building and many of its features have been preserved ( including a very old, charming working elevator, sliding stained glass doors in our room and more). The patio is a charming oasis and commons areas tastefully, uniquely designed. As I said, visually, this is a beautiful hotel.

The bedroom was clean and the bed was very comfortable for sleeping, bathroom clean and a great shower. Breakfast was excellent and the waitress was very helpful and I can say that about all the staff on reception as well any information we asked they for gave us an answer. Outside the hotel is the Roman Aquaduct which is very impressive which goes on for miles but could do with a good clean up. Not far from the Metro and the Colosseum which we walked to. I would stay there again.

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly, professional and service minded. The quadruple room was clean with a beautiful high ceiling and had a nice balcony with a lovely view of the surroundings with the ancient wall. The hotel is well situated less than 20 min walk from the Termini central station, and 7 min walk to the metro. You can easily walk to the Colosseum only 30 min away.
