The highlight of our stay at the Riu was undoubtedly the staff — they were friendly, hardworking, and consistently provided excellent service. The hotel lobby was spacious and inviting, with plenty of comfortable seating where you could relax and enjoy a drink.
However, there were a few drawbacks. The nightly entertainment took place in the central courtyard and went on until 11 PM, which made it quite noisy for anyone looking to wind down early. Dining was generally good, especially at the buffet, but the same selections became repetitive by the end of the week. Although there are other restaurants on-site, we found the food there didn’t quite measure up to what we’ve experienced at other resorts.
The pools were on the smaller side, often crowded, and not as clean as we’d hoped. We spent most of our time at the beach instead, which was a definite plus — it offered direct access, plenty of loungers, and a relaxing atmosphere. One downside was the nearby horseback riding: sometimes it left strong odors and some mess along the shore. Despite that, the beach/ocean was still a highlight of the trip.
