Staff were friendly the room was poor furniture nearly fell apart when you touch it . You could either have the a/c on or the tv as there’s no sockets for both but this didn’t matter too much as neither worked so you had to keep windows open which meant you got eaten by mosquitoes there was an ally at the side of the room which on a nightly basis was used as a toilet by the 100 or so people that sit on the wall by the river also sat watching multiple drug deals in the same ally and at 03.30 every morning the bottle bins from the restaurants got emptied and at 06.00 am the ally was pressure washed and due to some event going on on day 3 workers were very loudly slamming pieces of metal for some stage they were building until 03.00 in the morning left a day early when the guy at reception asked why we told him he couldn’t care less

Lovely hotel in good central position for station and tower. Room a good size and comfy beds. Aircon worked well although bit noisy. Breakfast fantastic and very friendly staff.
The hotel is easily accessible from the train station and in the center of Pisa. The down side is there’s no air conditioning and super noisy outside with people enjoying the nightlife.
Stayed 1 night pre flight. Location great however the historic charm of this place in no way outweighs the lack of basic facilities in room 305. The weather was very hot - aircon out of 1970s broken, dusty and obviously non functional, no idea why it was still left in situ gathering cobwebs. Windows do not open. It was stifling and unbearable. Bath stained with years of use, not dirty so much as worn. Shower curtain ancient worn and just clinging on.
The hotel common areas are really interesting and the shabby chic look can be appreciated there but please make the rooms useable! Worst nights sleep ever.
Loved our stay, r we old go again. River view st sunset was beautiful. Lots of shops and restaurants right around the corner, but not so close that it is noisy…

The hotel is as described. Very unique and historic, quite quirky. This is not a luxury hotel but the location is fabulous. The staff are friendly We did enjoy our stay Thanks
The hotel claims to be the oldest in Italy and although that has it's charm the facilities do show their age.
The wi-fi was very good as was the location, being close to the shops, bars & restaurants and only a 15min walk from the station and to the tower.
The staff are excellent and always helpful.
The continental breakfast was ample to start the day.
Hotel did its job for a night but wasn’t in great condition, most of tiles on floor of room were broken and shower had little water pressure. Hotel was quite loud with noises throughout the night.

The worst night ever!!!
The hotel is ok, although is old and the room are not 100% clean. I stayed 1 night and it was the worst, if you want to have a sleepless night then this is for you. Starting around 9pm-3am lots of people were partying outside of the hotel making it a nightmare for others. Terrible experience!
The oldest hotel to experience . Great stay. Excellent breakfast. Great staff.

Characterful and with a long history of literary guests. A refreshing change from the blandness of modern hotels: not for everyone but I don't mind ageing paintwork and chipped tiling when it comes with an Arno view like this. A bath plug would have been nice but I've learned how to improvise one.
This is an old property full of memories of previous famous visitors like Virginia Woolf, and should be viewed as such. If you are an adventurous type and curious this would make an excellent stay. Just round the corner is where Galileo grew up and Pisa University where he studied.

Condition of the room was rather dirty. The bathroom wasn't cleaned properly. Windows aren't soundproof. Found a silverfish under the spare toilet roll. Spiders/cobwebs in room. Key to door is also very old and took a bit of getting used to. Other than that, location was great, roof terrace was awesome and staff were friendly.

Gem in need of small fixes
Amazing trip back in time at the oldest hotel in Pisa. Insufficient electrical outlets and bathtub was flat out dangerous! The whole hotel could use some paint and lacquer but overall an interesting experience!
An elegant property which has a distinct charm. Convenient for exploring once you have toured the hotel. It might look a little tired in some areas but any renovations have been done in fitting with its history. We would definitely return.
