With around 1,300,000 people living in this city, there's a good chance you'll meet some new friends while you're in town. Are you touching down at San Diego International Airport? Hop into a taxi and journey 3 kilometres north to get to Old Town. If you're coming from the centre of the city, you'll be travelling 5 kilometres to the northwest.

A good portion of this city's attractions are sprinkled near Old Town, and the San Diego Zoo and SeaWorld are two of the most impressive. Don't forget to put the University of San Diego and the Balboa Park on your list as well. For a better perspective of this vibrant city as a whole, visit the close-by neighbourhoods of Midway-Pacific Highway and Hotel Circle.

If somehow you've never heard of the San Diego Convention Center, you're in for a real treat. This well-known attraction is located just 6 kilometres southeast of Old Town.

Not sure what to do in the city centre? Two fabulous places to start are Coronado Beach and the USS Midway Museum. San Diego Coronado Bridge and the Maritime Museum of San Diego should also be included in any outing downtown.

Local galleries such as the San Diego Museum of Art, the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego, the Timken Museum of Art and the Mingei International Museum are a doorway into the creative history of the region. Why not find out if there's an opening planned and discover some of the amazing works?

You never quite know what you'll uncover when walking around the eclectic collections of the San Diego Natural History Museum, the Fleet Science Center, the San Diego Air and Space Museum and the San Diego Model Railroad Museum. If you don't want to miss a thing, check for guided tours.

You never know what truths will be revealed at the Museum of Man, the Junipero Serra Museum, the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum and House of Pacific Relations International Cottages. These time-weathered places have their fair share of tales to tell.

Whatever your background or beliefs, it's worth going to Rock Church and Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church.
