The nation's capital, Tokyo, sits roughly 870 kilometres to the south of Numanosawa.
You don't have to go too far to witness some pleasant natural sights. Dig out your car keys and follow the road to Mount Moiwa, 45 kilometres away from Numanosawa, for a relaxed day. Or maybe Temiya Cave is more to your taste? You'll find it 50 kilometres away.
No baseball lover will want to miss out on a visit to Sapporo Dome, located 40 kilometres away in Sapporo. Check the schedule to see when they're playing. If you miss them, why not catch the stadium's other home team, the Consadole Sapporo?
Snowboarders and skiers won't want to leave Numanosawa, as it offers easy access to Rusutsu Resort and Furano Ski Resort. Be sure to bring your thermals! These slopes can get seriously chilly.
Iwamizawa, 30 kilometres to the southeast, is popular for the Iwamizawa Park and Hokkaido Greenland. Why not find your way there and stop by these popular attractions? Alternatively, go to Ebetsu, 30 kilometres to the south of Numanosawa, for the Historical Museum of Hokkaido and Memorial Tower.
Go on an adventure and see what's on offer in Otaru. This place is 50 kilometres to the west and close to Tomioka Catholic Church, the Otaru Music Box Museum and Suitengu. That being said, you shouldn't forget about the Ishihara Yujiro Memorial Museum and Rinyu Morning Market either.
An invigorating way to experience the surrounding region is to go on an outdoor adventure. Mountain climbing is one of the most popular activities here. But if that's not quite what you're after, there's always hiking.
Before you say "Sayōnara" to Numanosawa, check to see if you have any remaining change that you can spend on some last-minute souvenirs.
From the middle of Numanosawa, it's around 65 kilometres to the south to New Chitose Airport (CTS). This is the nearest airport. Remember to allow yourself a bit of extra time to find your way there so you don't miss your plane!
