What a great stay! My family (wife and I plus two teenage girls) stayed in two rooms at Alza and LOVED IT. The rooms are spacious, with incredibly comfy beds and the softest sheets. We had breakfast all days and loved both the Japanese and American versions. We stayed in 201 which had a balcony overlooking the street. It didn’t have much of a view given it was on a lower floor but it was very quiet and, overall, a great room. The other room, 306, faced the other side and was lovely as well. Service was phenomenal. They let us drop off luggage before checking in and held our stuff after check-out to get more time in Kyoto. The hotel is a short walk to both metro lines as well as tons of restaurants in Gion. It is also a short walk across the river to more restaurants. We would definitely stay here again!

Hotel Alza is an absolute gem. It has the feel of a quiet traditional place which it is. It is much more. New and clean and upscale with every modern amenity. The staff are absolutely dedicated to excellent service and friendliness. They may tell you they don't have a buffet breakfast only bento box. However, this breakfast served in your room or downstairs is fantastic.

Wonderful attention to details in the room. Spacious luxury in our corner room overlooking the river. Two layers of double-pane glass dampen the road noise to an acceptable level for us and was outweighed by the convenience of the location, so much within walking distance. Staff were eagerly helpful. Highly recommend overall.

The room was very large and well equipped with automation for drapes and lighting. It also had a very functional bath with great amenities including a micro bubble bath and large shower. We loved the modern but classic look of the hotel common areas and room. The staff was very attentive and made us feel very welcome. The location is excellent with the Gion historical district nearby and several train / subway stations available. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to stay here the next time we visit Kyoto.

Before booking this hotel I researched its ratings. I was checking it out based on convenience, but convenience does not override the ability of getting a good nights sleep. I was happy to see it it had a 9.8 rating. Now having stayed there, I am shocked it didn't get a 10 rating from everyone. This is the most wonderful place I have ever stayed in (and I have stayed in some $500/night places). My advise to you is to stop scrolling and just BOOK THIS PLACE. It is perfect. It will have whatever you need or want. I know this to be true because we arrived with nothing but the shirts on our back--no toothbrush, pajamas, etc. The room had it all, besides being downright beautiful and ultra-modern. They spoke perfect english. Their kindness was overwhelming. Once again, you can stop scrolling and JUST STAY HERE.

We love this hotel! This is our second stay, and it has been just as wonderful as the first. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, the staff are extremely friendly, and the rooms are spacious and very comfortable. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Kyoto.

The room we stayed in was really beautiful, with lacquered furniture and breakfast trays. It was also very spacious. The hotel is very well located in the heart of Gion, surrounded by many sights and restaurants.
