After you've hit the tarmac at Shinshu - Matsumoto Airport, you'll need to go 90 kilometres northeast to get to Kijimadaira. The suburb is 40 kilometres to the northeast of the city centre.

Kijimadaira is a magnet for sightseers. A good number of the city's top attractions are strewn near this appealing neighbourhood, including Nozawa Onsen Snow Resort and Lake Hokuryuko.
