Location: perfect for ropeway and pirate ship cruise. 2 min walk away. Rooms: amazing lake view Staff: went above and beyond for every little request Hotel: gorgeous lobby, foot bath outside lobby overlooking the lake. Easy to book private onsens which were impeccably kept and really nice for a family gathering Food: the staff went above and beyond, helping fix a very quick vegetarian dinner for the vegetarians in my family. The spread was amazing and huge. Same for breakfast. Rooms: very clean and very comfortable. Highly recommended stay - wish we stayed longer here!

Beautiful building, very lovingly maintained. The staff were friendly but not always able to speak English properly. The whole experience had an air of 'The Grand Budapest Hotel' film: both in terms of grandeur and comedy value. Gym was very poor for a 5 star hotel.

What a treat it was to stay in this accommodation near the end of our trip through Japan. It was a great place to relax and made accessing Hakone's attractions very easy. Wish we could have stayed for more nights! We were disappointed that more coffee pods were not provided by the host for the advertised in-room coffee maker (rare in Japan) - only three for our multiple night stay with two adults. Trekking up and down from the 7-eleven with to-go cups wasn't ideal. That said, the room amenities and complimentary snacks/beverages were appreciated.

Lovely place. Exquisitely comfortable

Hotel was clean and the staff were all very polite and helpful. The beds were a little uncomfortable, the AC didn’t work well and the room was hot but we were able to open the windows which was nice. Overall, the hotel was dated and guest rooms could use a renovation
