Romantic accommodation in Hanamaulu

This was our first stay in Kauai and it was definitely memorable. The property was under construction and we had to take three elevators to get to the pool as the main lobby was closed for renovations. Several other things were also closed such as a portion of the pool and the gym. We had an issue with roaches…. It was raining and on the first night we found one roach and didn’t think much of it as there was severe rain and we were on the second floor. Woke up in the middle of the night and found an additional roach. Looked around to see if there was more and found around 6 baby roaches. At this point we called front desk and explained and they moved us into a new room the same day. We didn’t have any additional issues for the next 5 days minus one stray roach on our last night. Food on the property was decent but beware of fees for parking and resort which ended up being about a quarter of the stay. Overall great resort with a pretty cool pool(s) just needs to finish renovations.

I would like to preface this by saying this was a last minute booking as our flight was cancelled twice and we were stranded at the airport with a toddler. The staff was AMAZING. Checked us in was super helpful and nice. We had an issue getting back to the airport and the manager personally woke to at 4 AM and drove us to the airport our literal like savor. Can’t recommend them more. Al so they had an excellent assortment of teas and coffee, even some coffee we paid good money to bring home!! We didn’t stay for breakfast but imagine it to be of the same quality - excellent!

Wonderful hotel. Room is updated and clean! Property is lush and well maintained. Everyone was so nice! Can’t wait to come back and stay at this hotel again. My new go to when I come back to Kauai!!!

Perfect hotel for what we wanted! Just a place to lay our heads at the end of the day. All the staff was friendly and helpful!

When we first pulled up to the property, I was a little apprehensive. The driveway is basically the back, so it didn't look like the pictures. But once we checked in and entered the property, holy moly! The grounds were absolutely immaculate, the pool was so clean and the seating and umbrellas, etc., were resort class. We loved the patio and chairs outside our room and enjoyed sitting out there and watching the clouds and listening to the ocean. The room was the perfect size, spotless and the soaps and shampoos were wonderful. My hair has never been softer! The beds had the perfect amount of pillows! SIX! The towels were soft, the staff were amazing, over all I think we'll spend more days at this hotel. The restaurant was very nice and the food was ok. No fault of theirs, all the food and drinks are expensive when on vacation. We loved this property so much and it was a great choice. The Coconut Marketplace was next door which had a great selection of restaurants, shops and a convenience store with souvenirs, supplies and food.

All great - EXCEPT - after 10 hours of traveling, To Ha, the woman behind the front desk, kept us waiting half an hour to check in - when there were zero people on line or in front of her. While we were directed by the bellman to take a seat, she was on the phone, typing on her computer, and smiling and talking to any guest that came by with a question. When she finally got to us, she made us go through another 30 minutes of intake, including a sales pitch for an upsell. We travel a lot, and we have never experienced anything like this before. Certainly the last thing you'd expect in a pricey luxury resort. There was no attempt to make it up to us, with the room upgrade we'd been expecting, since we travel so often and Expedia puts us in the VIP category, or even perhaps a round of drinks by the pool, or something to take the sting out of this awful check-in experience. The capper was when we checked out, we asked for a 1-hour late checkout, and she couldn't even muster that. Other than her, all of staff were WONDERFUL. It's a lovely place.
