It was a nice get away for our wedding anniversary. We were able to bring our dogs and use the private strip of beach a couple of cottages away. This was a great quiet trip. The only thing that could have been better is the AC in the cottage. A window unit is provided but with 90 temps it couldn’t keep up.

This house has beautiful views and it was only about 45 min to Williamsburg. It is on Hills Bay, which flows into the Chesapeake Bay. The water is very shallow and would be great for younger kids. We brought kayaks and enjoyed our time on the water. It would be fantastic for someone that owns a boat too. The water doesn’t have many waves, but we tied a party size float to part of the dock and all the kids, ages 10-19, loved our time there. Since I’m the first review, I think I might be the first renter since the purchase, but there was only one coffee cup and the kitchen could be stocked a bit more-plenty of dishes (and even plastic wrap, foil, trash bags, dish, and hand soap) but limited cooking utensils, cookware, and no containers for leftovers and such. Not a big deal, but might be to someone planning to cook quite a bit. The property managers were AMAZING and always quick to respond! Honestly, the best renting experience we have had! If you like seafood, The Seafood Shack and Richardsons are great! Southwind Pizza is wonderful. Make reservations for Thurs live music. The Island Stop has Chesapeake Bay Twinkies (jalapeños, cream cheese, crab, old bay, wrapped in bacon and glazed with old bay bbq sauce. Watch their fb page for when they have those. The shaved ice guy there is also super nice! You can see Deltaville (check out their minor league baseball schedule) and Gwynn’s Island from the house. Fireworks all around (we stayed on July 4th) were spectacular! LOVED it!

Staff were excellent, breakfast was great with variety of items, room was clean and comfortable. The only negative is the floor/carpet in the room had a sticky feeling. It seemed clean so idk if it’s a cleaning product but it’s weird.

Sunday we didn't have hot water so we couldn't take showers.

the week was HOT!!! (100 degrees) but the house was cool, clean, comfortable and well stocked. The view of the river/bay was breathtaking. Secluded and quiet which is what we were looking for. My husband wants to come back and he's hard to please. We had good communication with the owner when we had questions. Amazed how well-stocked this property was. We'll be back!!!

We absolutely loved our stay at this super cute basement suite! The space was much more spacious than we expected, with a comfy layout that made it easy to relax. What really made it special was the decor – full of antique knick-knacks and thoughtful touches that gave it so much character and charm.There’s no cell service, which was honestly a huge plus for us. It was the perfect excuse to truly unplug and unwind without distractions. They also stocked the place with plenty of snacks, which held us over nicely between meals – such a thoughtful gesture! And if you do need anything, Main Street is just a quick drive away.We’d absolutely recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful, cozy retreat with lots of personality!
