Our second room was only necessary because the hotel refused to let us cancel our stay.
After the terrible experience in the first room, we tried to cancel the remaining night. The hotel rejected our request, forcing us to stay in a second room—which unfortunately had its own serious problems.
Issues with the second room:
- Hot water took over 10 minutes to appear: At first, there was no hot water at all. I even asked another guest, who explained that you have to let the water run for more than ten minutes before it heats up. Only then did it finally work.
- Clogged bathtub: The bathtub didn’t drain properly, so we had to shower while standing in about two inches of accumulated water.
- Poorly maintained bathroom: The tub had clearly been painted over multiple times, with peeling paint in several spots. The grout on the walls had also been painted over instead of cleaned—mold was simply covered with paint.
- Strong mold smell: The entire room smelled of mold, making it uncomfortable and concerning from a health standpoint.
- Internet was the only improvement: Unlike the first room, the Wi‑Fi actually worked here—but that was the only positive aspect.
To add to the frustration, the property is advertised online as “The Palms,” but the real name is Hollywood Beach Hotels, which feels misleading
