The service at this hotel was truly exceptional. The staff were not only friendly but also remarkably attentive — they knew guests by name and remembered individual requests. All of our preferences were accommodated promptly and to the highest standard. The room itself was spotless and well-maintained. Housekeeping was consistently excellent and scheduled at a time that was most convenient for us. The location couldn’t be better — right in the heart of the city, with all major attractions within a comfortable 5–10 minute walk. Overall, our experience was seamless and exceeded expectations. Highly recommended.

Loud music until 1 and 2 AM right outside our window both nights we were there. Location and property was otherwise great, but lack of sleep completely ruined our trip and iur experience of Florence. Would not recommend staying at the hotel under any circumstances.

Sadly this hotel ownership has decided to prioritize private parties and events to the detriment of hotel guests. It used to be that a hotel guest could enjoy a quiet calm aperitivo with amazing views after a busy day in Florence. However, during the week of my most recent stay (I have been coming since the hotel opened), there were one, sometimes two, “private events” for non-hotel guests at the “Angel” rooftop bar every single night. See attached photos of management warning emails. Even if you show up before these private events are scheduled to begin, entire areas of seating (the tables with views) are now unavailable because they are being “set up” for the later events. In addition, if you stay on the fourth floor directly below the roof, you are subjected to noise and the scraping of furniture, equipment (who knows?) until after these private events conclude, sometimes after midnight. This used to be an oasis of beauty and calm in the middle of the bustling historic center. But it is now time to find a new oasis.

If I could, I would give the Calimala a 4.75 star review - but please know, we would stay here again. Here's the pro and con list.... Pros: Beautiful location and our fifth story room was wonderfully quiet. Staff is friendly. Bed was wonderfully comfortable. Breakfast staff was great! Cons: Our superior double room had one small wooden chair and one luggage rack for two people. We requested another rack but was told the hotel was "out" of them. (We did get one the next day.) We also requested one more wooden chair - since there are two of us) but was told they didn't have any (although we saw lots of them in the Angel room). Sigh...these are seemingly minor complaints in light of how much we liked the hotel - but they are ones that would have made a difference to the comfort of the room. Bottom line: we would stay here again because the pros outweigh the few cons we had.
