Overall stay was good but the hotel is definitely looking tired and dirty. The fridge in our room did not work at all - why is is not noticed by housekeeping? The carpet in the room was full of stains. No robes or spare towels in the room. Damp towels etc lying in piles in the corridors at 4pm causing a musty smell. Clothing drying rack did not pull out at all - totally jammed. Light fixtures in the corridors full of dead bugs. Cracked and missing grout in the elevators. Dirt on carpet outside elevator not cleaned up after 2 days. Looks like hotel trading on old glory and management no longer care about the details
This resort is very nice! Our room was comfortable, but the carpet needs to be replaced.
Lots of pool options. Nice to have an Adult Only pool. Not many staff on site.
Lots of dining options walkable from the hotel, and even a few close hikes in the beautiful forest.
The beautiful lake was right across the street.
We had pre-checked in online but still had to stand in check-in line to get our room key. They don't enforce the area in front of the hotel so that people can pull in and unload their luggage as people are parked there sitting in their vehicles. The lobby area smelled of mold and all of the windows had dirt and grime on the outside of every floor. The room was not as expected as I upgraded to one with a walk in shower but it had a bathtub. There were long hairs left over from previous residents in the bathroom and door hinges. There were no bath robes or towels in the room so we had to wait 4 hours before we could use the poolas they were out of robes. The shower gel dispenser was missing (shampoo and conditioner were there) and there were no body bars of soap, so had to call down for little shower gel tubes. The little bar fridge ended up freezing our fruit and snacks. This hotel being the most upscale in the area, has gone down over the years. All in all, a very unpleasant experience.
I tried to use the luggage cart but they were locked up. I asked for one to be released but they wouldn’t. Bellman didn’t show. I manually carried bags. This was very hard. We are two women. No one offered to help. Room was not prepared for when we arrived. There were no toiletries or a shower curtain. Not enough towels. I was treated with anger when I complained. No one showed with the supplies for night 1. Went to front desk next morning and asked for those things again. Was not treated with respect. I could see that the non Canadian tourists were treated better because most booked with the hotel directly. I asked for a credit. They refused. Said they’d give a coupon for breakfast and it would be slipped under the door in the afternoon. Went out for the day. Nothing was waiting under the door. I phoned front desk. Operator answered the phone, I said my room number. She immediately got angry. Told me I’d have to wait. I told her the problem and she gasped and then said fine, I’ll transfer you to a manager. I introduced myself to manager, he said “uh huh” not how can I help you. So rude. Fought for my coupon for breakfast. He said just go eat it’ll be charged to the room. I said there should be no charges. Conversation ended very abruptly and he hung up. This was an East Indian man. The other man that gave us the coupon was a tall Caucasian man. Next thing I know there’s someone knocking at the door with a coupon. I paid a lot of money to stay. Shame on you

Great hotel grounds and the hot spring hot tub is amazing!

The lake and surrounding area is stunning. Everything is in walking distance within the village.
The hotel itself is aging. Only 1 elevator worked the whole time we were there (we were on the 7th of 8 stories)so there were often significant queues lined up just to get up and down.
The wallpaper in my suite was peeling in places and the closet, once opened, would not close without a fight that I was afraid I was going to break it. The bathroom was long overdue for an update with the toilet starting to run out of the blue. BUT it was clean and staff very friendly. and accomodating

We’ve been coming to HHS Resort every year for the last 22 years. Over the last 6 or 7 years, we have noted a steady decline in service and I have to say this last visit was probably the most disappointing. The room was shoddy with an odd smell, we couldn’t open then window without another room directly looking in, and the housekeeping team was clearly understaffed. For what one expects given the room price, I’m not sure we’ll be coming back which is kind of sad as our autumn visit has been a family tradition for over two decades.
